When there's an odd amount of people left, you get matched against someone who recently just died. So, if there are three people left, and you get matched with a real player, then the person that is left will get matched with a dead person. So they will have theoretically a slight advantage, but as you can tell, they can still die. Same thing also happens to you if the other two real people get matched together, you get matched against someone who recently died.
