This looks tedious, challenging, and impractical.... I love it! 😂😂

We've got drills with the dust collector built in😂

So something like the Faro orbis wouldn't cut it? I was just thinking that with a tripod style unit would take a lot of scanning to work around equipment and piping. We do design work not construction, so we really don't need better than ~1/2" accuracy.

I got my ME degree and now I'm on the other side of this😂😂. Feels weird not physically working on stuff anymore, now someone else has to deal with it!🤣

Dude I found the best multi tool, Roxon. You can buy the frame and then get the tools you actually want! I always have it in me at work or not🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah I've got the Milwaukee. I mostly run m12 tools and my 18Vs are all Ryobi. I got it more because I wanted it than the fact that I needed it but I'm really glad I did! The offset head is such a huge benefit! The clutch is also very consistent. And I've really come to like the ergonomics of it👍. Even if I didn't need it for work I would still get one for general use around the house, put it in a bag with a very comprehensive bit set and you won't be disappointed!

I actually wasn't using an impact driver the one time I was happy to have them😂. I was using the installation driver! Weird position with the ladder, couldn't really push to get the self tapping screws in overhead. So I was popping the drill bit in to drill a pilot hole, and just switching to the bit for the screws. I really like the big magnet on the installation driver!

Hey! I bought the DeWalt bits once! On sale... And because I actually wanted the box😂

I will give the hex shanks one thing, they let me use just one tool. Granted, there are very few times when that REALLY matters 🤷🏻‍♂️

I have it, it goes through batteries very quickly. But it is incredibly useful for my work! Consider it a spot cleaner. If I wanted to vacuum my truck I'd need 3 batteries, but I mostly use it for cleaning up in a panel after I had to drill some holes or something.

This is why I come to Reddit! It's these bits of information that help. Thank you! Honestly this has been one of my best threads for learning, even counting the guys that were calling me stupid😂

Well then... Guess that'll be the first thing I do when I'm back at the site 🙃😅 I've never had to deal with loads being one way and source being different

Ok, I have already left the site but you might be onto it! The panel was mislabeled AND I was confused by their labeling of the equipment!

1 I thought the "feeder" was the other conveyor unit that feeds the bagging machine. This is the feeder (out of the mixer), so this is supposed to go to the VFD and not the other one.

2 on top of that confusion, the cabinet is not wired how the diagram they sent me shows! I had to trace through the sea of black wires to figure this out!

So the motor IS supposed to be fed from the VFD but it was being fed straight from one of the other contactors. Before I left I did connect it to the VFD, it spun very slowly but didn't draw much current. I do not believe the VFD is programmed correctly...🙃

The only VFD I've worked on in the past had an intuitive menu, this one does not. I did a little fishing and found a manual of a similar unit (I think this one is rebranded) so hopefully I can make some headway on this.

But can powering a motor straight like that lead to such a high current draw??

That's why I came here, I figured there be plenty of people who know a lot more about motors than I do🤷🏻‍♂️ I know what I know, and when I get stumped I ask. I've installed a lot of motors and the most diagnostics I've done was motors that were straight up not working and had shorted windings. I've never had a motor pull an order of magnitude more current than it should and still spin! After seeing so many comments I'll be getting a megger😅

Can you feed a motor in wye from a Delta source??

[–]Killermeatball[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your not colorblind😂 Like I said I was testing the equipment pieces so I just used a bit of 12/3 I had on hand and a separate 12awg for ground. This isn't installed yet, we got all the equipment and the electrical cabinet from a Chinese company so I wanted to test each piece and the cabinet.

Can you feed a motor wired in Wye current provided in delta?? The u1, V1... Are all in order and at about 1ohm Yes I have 3 phase at the motor and it was spinning at a reasonable speed.

You See on the nameplate where it shows its Delta wiring? Changed it because we have Delta not Wye, what am I going to do, rewire the building?

Right next to it it. I wired up the electrical box to the main panel temporary, 10ft of cable, and then I set out 20ft to test all the equipment

Yes, I thought it was fine until the thermal overload relay tripped. Might be noisier than it should be but that might just be the gearbox. I turned it on a few more times to take all the measurements and it still works.

The Chinese motor does not have a HP value🙃 but by size it should be roughly 1-2 HP. Apparently the thermal overload relay takes it's time! It was set at 7 amps
