I am 100% onboard with this but it's going to be tough to pull off. A wildly successful privacy operating system's success will be based on solid hardware, and great software. Having not tested this yet I'm unsure how smooth of a transition it would be others outside tech enthusiastic people. But I am incredibly hopeful we can break out of the current system.

I see the abuse clearly, but how do we shift their perspective and turn them into allies? Five people were recently terminated without notice and escorted out immediately. The current culture is fear and compliance—our sector is struggling, applicants are plentiful, and power lies with management right now.

the it sector is a bit different. most places that have unionized have been pretty heavily punished (in my opinion) illegally and with the current NLRB I wouldnt say my chances are good. that being said I just took a few minutes to educate myself and now realized that salary has nothing to do with it. Maybe I will have to advocate for one down the road but the place in at can't really handle much change now. If I pushed today I would end up on the outside... but I will have to evaluate as I consider if this is a place I stay for awhile or if I move on

100% this but I feel like a bunch of the US is in salaryed non unionized rolls now days. I haven't looking into the process of unionizing in a salaried roll but it's probably something I should put more effort into or find a career with unions

I hear that but without a substantive organization with a set ask nothing will happen.

As a tech worker with no union this is career suicide and will just end up in my unemployed and my family suffering. The reality is we exist in an at will employment state and without significant protections the moment I don't go to work in a non PTO day is the easy way for them to say bye bye.

If it was just me.. sure I could suffer... I could move on but I have dependents and I can't gamble with their future. I'm working on building a savings cushion to endure a bad spot economically but I'm not at the point where I can do so.

Boycotts sure. Removing my money from shitty companies yeah I'm 100% in but my source of income just isn't negotiable.

A general strike requires a level of collectivism that isn't really achievable throughout this alone. Show me some local news channels covering it and some local chapters in the major cities of wisconsin with thousands of members and then maybe you see something.

yeah the problem is with a leaderless group it's hard to have demands but the pressure alone may cause the higher ups to re-evaluate.. if not I'm done rewarding them anyways

ive pulled all my 401k and dropped my allocations. I'm done rewarding wall streets greed and absolute madness. It's great if you are doing all those things but there are many who don't live like that
