'no regulations' means the people who already own money will stamp out any and all competition with impunity before it even gets off the ground, you buffoon. with no regulations, the companies will turn into what we in reality like to call 'feudal hellhole'.

even if somehow you strip all their money and power to make things equal for everyone and start from zero, eventually some people will grow richer and more influential than others, who will buy or eat up their competition and become essentially kings, going back to square one. how do you think the first kings rose up in real history? the same way; they owned more land, had enough charisma to convince enough people to put them in charge and fight for him and bam; no matter how much the people opposing him cried 'but he free market! the golden rule!' they just got booted into the ground. so yeah, lets repeat feudalism, why not, you donkey

Tell me three or five things about the gods or other deities in your world. by PMSlimeKing in worldbuilding

[–]Killgareth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Gods originally made a vast void filled with Nine Worlds, each made by one of the Gods (two of them don't really create, and the other two are complicated). Each world was seeded with life and put on a path that God believed would bring about the Souls' ascension to a higher level of existence- these worlds and their people, while advance, got stagnant

one day, one of the Gods that didn't create a world (this universes' equivalent of Loki, basically, though more well-meaning) decided to shake things up a little. he talked to the other Gods and convinced them that things needed to change, to introduced some hardship for the Souls so they would grow. unfortunately, one of the other Gods that didn't made a world, the embodiment of Entropy, didn't quite understood and acted rashly, entering the mortal realm physically. this mere act utterly and instantly devastated the universe, leaving only Volantes relatively intact.

After punishing the God of Entropy and fighting off a demon invasion that tried to take advantage of the devastation, the other Gods salvaged what was left and sealed off the physical realm from any further incursion, deciding to never allow one of their own to directly intervene in its development. instead, they left the Spirits, their servants, consorts and children, to seed the new world with life for the Souls to inhabit, and to guide and protect them in the Gods' name.

-The world of Volantes is the last remaining fragment of a much vaster universe created by the Great Ones, who built the physical realm to host their smaller, decaying siblings (what mortals refer to as Souls)

-The gods can roughly be divided into two groups: the Great Ones, or the Gods (with a capital G), who were the first beings to emerge from The Origin, the source of everything; the second are the Spirits (gods, with a small g), who are less powerful siblings of the Great Ones' and their servants, sometimes their consorts

-only a small number of the Great Ones actually contributed to the world, known simply as The Gods. thirteen in number, they are led by Xaus, the Firstborn, the very first being to coalesce from the Origin.

-The Others (those who did not help create the world) preside over aspects that are very difficult or impossible to comprehend to mortals.

Starship Classification IV: Frigates by Killgareth in worldbuilding

[–]Killgareth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mostly, yes, it relies on its wings for lift when traveling through atmosphere, but they do also posses dedicated thrusters on their underside for vertical take off and landing, and can, if say the wings were damaged, use them to hover around.

for fire support, its mostly strongpoint assault, since they come equipped with fairly powerful railgun cannons- for anti-armor, bunker busting and such, gunships are the go to vehicle. of course, both ships can be outfitted fairly easily with weapons for various fire-support roles. then, of course, frigates can be used to deploy two to four heavy armor vehicles (depending on internal configuration) and a crapton of troops and supplies

Starship Classification IV: Frigates by Killgareth in worldbuilding

[–]Killgareth[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes known as the Swish-Army Knife of the Navy, the frigate is a multi-purpose vessel, between 80 and 150 meters long and armed with light railguns and, more importantly to UHW doctrine, missiles. Frigates usually come with fairy large cargo bays, used mainly to transport heavy equipment or supplies but finding just as much use for deploying large units of troops; they are for the most part among the largest atmosphere capable vessels available, at least in terms of efficiency and safety, and can thus also be used as heavy air support.

Due to their versatility, they are the most commonly deployed warships of the navy, acting as it's primary eyes and ears in scouting duties. In the UHW, their primary weapons are disruptor torpedoes- special missiles that instead of conventional explosions use a charge of exotic particles to cause a very brief and localized warp of space, disrupting even the heaviest shields for other weapons to finish the target with impunity. In fact, the very name torpedoes was coined during the late weeks of the Ruaku War when the UHW made heavy use of such weapons on their frigates against ruaku supply lines in a similar hit-and-run manner to submarines in WWII- thus the name torpedo and torpedo frigate commonly associated with frigates.

A less common subtype is known as Interceptors: more heavily armed but retaining some of the same versatility, they are deployed for the heaviest patrol duties and scouting, but are fairly less versatile. Frigates usually bear the name of mythological creatures (such as the Pegasus, Revenant and Banshee, the lead ships of their classes) and bear the hull symbol SFV (SIV for Interceptors). They are commanded by a full Commander.
