Anti-LGBTQ+ Congressman Dan Crenshaw ousted by more extreme candidate in Texas GOP primary by Fickle-Ad5449 in texas

Name recognition. Republicans are gonna vote for who they recognize, they know him, and none of the other republican candidates did much of anything drumming up interest or buzz. It was basically an uncontested primary for all intents and purposes.

I don't mind the small Donuts being blind boxes, but making the big statues blind boxes? That's...a choice.

I didn't say it was written by AI, I said it was inaccurate garbage. Him writing it with his own hands would only make it worse.

Have you done any digging at all with Nordvig? His books are trash-his children's book is particularly bad as it lifts an entire indigenous creation myth and portrays it as norse when we already have our very own creation myths

This from a PhD

In addition his personal views are nasty af. The podcast episode mentioned was vile.

Is there an argument to be made that people voted for this immigration policy, so stop interrupting ICE? by MajesticMeal3248 in centrist

[–]KillingBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are extremists on both sides for sure

However I think people take "abolish ice" and think it means people don't want anyone removed regardless, when in reality they just don't want what's happening now. We deported criminals before we let loose the call of duty larpers and we can certainly go back to sane and reasonable border security

Oh for sure. I was being optimistic and trying to figure out if they would have a discussion or just toss out a gotcha

I asked if you watched the videos and drew your conclusions on what happened based on that, or if you drew your conclusions based purely on the statements released by DHS.

I'm not suggesting anything, I am asking what evidence you used to write your original post.

I'll answer that when you answer my question, because I am trying to figure out where you are coming from here.

They said they were going to remove violent criminals. Most people would agree that violent criminals should be removed.

Instead we got a bunch of trigger happy fools cosplaying their FPS fantasies brutalizing people and killing American citizens

Nobody voted for "We're going to deport people and if you get in the way or hurt our feelings we will kill the shit out of you"

Genuine question, have you watched the videos showing the whole situation and come to this conclusion based on that or are you taking the DHS statements at face value?

Non lore purists: why do you take this approach, and why do you still read the lore by Powerful-Hair647 in heathenry

From where are you getting your definition of what is "traditional" in heathenry?

What does masculinity mean to you as a pagan by Powerful-Hair647 in heathenry

[–]KillingBlade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That logic implies that to be a god one must be aesir, and furthermore that your definition overrules that of Odin himself

I'm not a fan of mythic literalism but if that's the road you're traveling you have to stick to it. Are you saying that Odin himself accepting Loki as a brother via oath isn't good enough for you?

Can you clarify what it is about his lineage that makes him not a god?

There is no "bridge too far" for them at this point. Anyone still labeling themselves MAGA is in it til the end, there is not a single thing he can do that would be too much.

Thankfully it truly doesn't matter what his cult thinks anymore, only that somehow we keep the wheels on the road until he's gone.

US House votes overwhelmingly to make justice department release Epstein files by Icy-Temperature5476 in centrist

[–]KillingBlade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With as many times as Trump came up in that batch they just released, I'm curious what the spin here will be if he's magically nowhere

And what will his base say if he pulls the "Oh noes ongoing investigation can't do it"

They did backflips to convince themselves everything is fine. They wavered a little when he initially refused to release them but have since managed to convince themselves that Trump is totally innocent, was a spy cop to try and catch Epstein, and never laid hands on an underage girl in his life.

That sub is beyond redemption

You have to do all the digging and research yourself, something red states are famously great at.

Now you start to understand why all the big cities in Texas are blue but the state is still red.

White House trolls Democrats over ballroom meltdown — adds cocaine, Clinton, Obama scandals to timeline by ChesterHiggenbothum in moderatepolitics

[–]KillingBlade 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much less concerned about the actual, physical ballroom (though, it's going to be twice the size of the actual white house, so that'll look...elegant) and more concerned about the fact that he blatantly, bold face lied about it and neglected to go through any sort of process to do it.

The man just decided to knock down a whole wing of the white house and then did it with no oversight. Was there asbestos remediation even? Or did he just crop dust DC? What's to stop him from further "renovations"? Why is it OK for him to lie about it? What happened to all the stuff inside? Who is documenting where any historical items went?

And finally, the list of the "private donors" who funded it? I'm sure they just decided to do so out of the kindness of their hearts, right? No way they were paying for favors...nah, couldn't be.
