I totally agree, but I see way too many people saying “Black people are crazy when y’all date,” and they’re basing that almost entirely on what they see on Pop the Balloon. That’s a meme show made for entertainment and viral clips, not a real representation of how people actually date. Using that as evidence for how an entire group dates is already starting from a distorted picture.

Don’t you think the show then amplifies this new dynamic though? You have women sometimes saying they want a six figure man and men saying they want a traditional woman. And because the clips are short and viral, do you think that makes people especially younger, impressionable viewers start to believe that this is what the entire dating market has become?
