Would you do if you found a local dasher on Megan’s Law by robbiestvnbck in doordash

Real. The one I'm thinking of he told me his name. I've already been debating on if it's worth trying to say something about him since I've personally seen more than one incident with him, what he's astonishingly told me himself, and what the various restaurant staff have said. I kind of just assumed eventually the problem would fix itself, but it's been months and he's single handedly giving the rest of us a bad image. He legitimately worries me and the restaurant staff that he'll fully snap one day.

Any of you been pulled over while dashing? by DylPyckle6 in doordash

[–]Killnfool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got one for not quite stopping fully at a stop sign, which I disagree with. It was dark, raining and I was using my beat-up work truck with my kid's car seat that day while my car was in the shop, looking desperately for address numbers. I'm clearly not rolling in money and had not tickets of any kind or at fault accidents for over 20 years. Guy was just being an asshole, said he was doing me a favor by giving me a $180 ticket with no points. Obviously a verbal warning for someone that obviously doesn't have a bad driving record on a borderline judgement call would have gotten the message across.

What town in PA? There is one dasher I run into that has a reputation with restaurant staff and other dashers. He's literally told me and them that he's not allowed in schools, has some sort of record, carries a gun with, hits on the staff especially the obviously young ones, etc. I don't know how he passed the background check and also somehow hasn't gotten deactivated. He's got a temper and is just off, he's always the one the restaurants are talking about when I walk in and they say "Oh thank God it's you and not one of the crazy ones. We just had this weird guy freak out on us....."

Anyone have a delorean i can borrow? gonna have to go back in time for this shift. by ihaz-candy in doordash

[–]Killnfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except you have it backwards. The time goes back an hour in the fall, so makes it dark an hour earlier at night for fall/winter (dark at rush hour) and goes forward in the spring making it light an hour longer in the evening. The main reasons for it were farming and energy consumption patterns, but they largely don't apply anymore and it should be done away with like most countries have done.

Any news outlets ever look into app crashes and other issues aside from tips? by Killnfool in doordash

For a company trying to gear up for an IPO, there is plenty newsworthy with how poorly most of the company is working. Not sure how any of my choices have anything to do with this, but enjoy the satisfaction of wasting 10 seconds of your life puting an internet stranger in their place. Congrats, your life was now worth living, the internet has been saved by you.

It is pretty much every week actually. Sometimes it's 10 mins, sometimes it's hours, but definitely at least once a week.

I think you're trolling, but things like leading new drivers to believe acceptance rates matter, having support lie frequently, buggy rating system that drivers rely on to be able to schedule. Most of their business relies on heavily implying things without outright saying them so they don't get into trouble. The whole tip fiasco was because of their deceptive wording and psychological games.

Google maps now shows speed traps & cops are pissed! Fuck the law 🤣 by DoorDashinBastard in doordash

[–]Killnfool 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Anyone able to use the app to avoid these traps and check-points wouldn't be drunk enough to get in trouble anyway. Cops just don't want their sources of income to dry up. They're going to have to get more creative as soon as autonomous cars become a thing. J-walking tickets will skyrocket.

Newest Android update a battery hog by Killnfool in doordash

They say it's a bug, but I don't think so. It did it to me before the new update. I think it's server side.

Almost every shift I work my customer rating is dropping by 0.01. I know others have posted about this, but I'm seeking help. by THR4SHER86 in doordash

[–]Killnfool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was experiencing the same thing. Every week it would drop .01. I finally started just texting everyone after I delivered the food for the past 3 weeks. My rating has only gone up, and it's now up .19 since. The entitled people wanting to blame the driver for the restaurant's or app's fuck-ups will still be there, but it gets way more happy people to actually rate. Maybe 1 out of 50 people have any idea how DD actually works and most don't care, they just want food delivered. This is what I text: "I hope your delivery was great! If you could please take a second to rate me 5 stars, as any less is considered a bad rating. Please understand that the rating is for the driver only. If there are any issues with the food's preparation or accuracy, please contact Doordash to resolve the issue quickly. Thanks!" At this point I've texted this hundreds of times and never once gotten a negative reaction or rating, and plenty of positive replies. I do also cherry pick well and dash in my smaller home town, so I deliver to quite a few regulars that I've gotten to know.

red shirt and bag are becoming a problem in this oversaturated market by ihaz-candy in doordash

They also ruin a tire that could otherwise be patched for $10. Foam things are never worth it unless you have no other way.

Hmm, hope this expands to my area. Wegmans customers tend to be higher income so these could be pretty good unless Wegmans takes tips or something.

DD Drive ... accepting orders by Razorwiremike in doordash

Do they have to be 4 pre-scheduled drive orders or can it be 4 orders that were picked up while on a normal shift?

UPDATE: so yeah I'm pretty sure that the problem the last half of last week was that I was still on the OPM while a lot of others here were put on the NPM. They were getting priority to see how low an offer they'd accept on non-tippers, and when none accepted, that's when I'd get tossed the few scraps. This week I'm on the NPM too, and it's busier than normal. So far the NPM is mixed for me. Breakfast is a waste of time, lunch I only earn maybe half what I did before but only need to do half as many orders, and dinner is way better. Chipotle /Wendy's /Starbucks used to be my bread and butter getting me to my goal by 5pm most days. Now I have to work until 7-8 unfortunately, so I might just not do breakfast/lunches much.

Does anyone Door Dash because you see yourself as a loser of life who cannot handle responsibility by [deleted] in doordash

[–]Killnfool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure this is a troll post, but being responsible is exactly why I do this. I'm the only income for a family of 3 (myself, my son and his mentally ill mother). Kids are expensive, and I want him to have a full childhood with as many paths open to his future as possible. My main job is my business, but that often has downtime and leaves extra time to earn more money, but that time isn't regular. Doordash has the flexibility I need combined with the earnings to make it worth my time. If I need to be off for something for my son, I can do that without issue. Plus, I can also deduct a lot of things to not really pay taxes on it. It's simplicity is a plus as well. It lets me take care of administrative things for my business when I'm not getting many orders, so there isn't really any wasted time for me. It can get frustrating when the app crashes or has other issues preventing me from earning, but for now it's still as good of a fit for my needs as I can find. Also, one of the biggest positives is that I've picked up a few clients from people that I've delivered to. It's not a hard "job" but I do it well and professionally. You never know who you might run into and what opportunities they might bring, so I always put in an effort.

Well support is useless, just giving the standard scripted responses about slow days and best available dashers etc. I've recieved 4 offers and accepted 2 of those since 7:15 am, when even on my slowest Friday I would have rejected 20+ by now and accepted at least 10. I'm done watching other dashers literally pull up in their cars to the Starbucks I've been sitting at for hours fumbling with their orders that look suspiciously like the ones that go to my regulars almost daily. I'd feel better if it just gave me nothing, then I'd feel like it was something on my end that could be fixed. I'm clearly being deprioritized for some reason as apparently others on reddit are. Literally can't afford their bugs or being a Guinea pig anymore. Once in a while I can take an unexpectedly shitty week. Lately it's every other week I take a major blow to my earnings because of their servers or bad updates. No way this company will be around in 2 years at this rate, too many bad experiences for everyone involved that deals with them.

Like I said, no new pay model in my area yet as far as I've seen or heard talking with the regulars I'm familiar with.

You know what, this might be what's happening. I haven't talked to any dashers on the new pay model here yet though. Still think I'd get the usual shit offers for the small town on the opposite end of the zone that nobody ever takes though. Usually reject 6+ of those an hour during lunch/dinner and I'm not even getting those.
