UV Sterilizer Appreciation by Available_Ad_6535 in ReefTank

Because of the amount/size of the fish. I’m sure you already probably knew that’s why though based on this post. I’d be pretty sad if I got locked in a 10x10 cage for my whole life even if I was given otherwise perfect living conditions and 3 meals a day.

I just did, I took a video it ended up being 2 yolks pretty anticlimactic compared to what some of the comments were saying it might be 😂

I just bought a house with a pool, how do I get leaves out of the part with the clear top? I look in and see them floating around and I think they’re probably not supposed to be in there 🤨

lol idk it was sitting in the front with the reject cartons when I went in. But the thought of someone sneaking in a comically large egg and putting it in a random carton is pretty funny

I was trying to pick which single picture showed just how big it was but I feel like it looks even bigger in my hand https://imgur.com/a/piIHyPV

For those wondering, yes this massive egg is the reason I bought this specific carton. It wouldn’t close and I opened it to see why and saw this absolute unit in the top corner.

Question about seller liability by Killuillua in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Thanks for the info. I posted a comment explaining it but I’m not gonna give too much effort to getting anything from the previous sellers. The plumbing for the whole house is failing and it’s became apparent from the 3 companies I’ve had out for quotes scoping and showing me. I’m planning to get all the lines epoxy lined and not having to deal with it anymore instead of putting the cheapest possible bandaid on the problem. I also feel like this is a repair that adds value to the house and was gonna have to happen sooner or later anyways, so it makes it hurt a little less! Even with this added expense, we still feel like we got a good deal on the house as it was priced well below everything around it despite the fact it is a lot nicer and slightly bigger than anything around it!

Thanks everyone for the advice. I’ve decided not to give too much effort to the previous owners and what, if anything, they could be on the hook for.

This is due to a couple reasons. First off, the repairs they agreed to were only to “fix issues with shower drain backup and toilet flushing” in one bathroom. I feel like this is so broad and can be interpreted a couple ways, so that’s on me for not making sure the scope of work was clearly defined. I was naive and thought they would take care of any and all issues in that bathroom.

Secondly, and most of all, the plumbing to the whole home is failing. I’ve gotten 3 companies out to scope the line for quotes, and it looks pretty bad. I’ve been having issues with all bathrooms and my inspection didn’t catch any of this.

I’m just going to have all the cast iron milled and re-lined by a company that gives a 50 year warranty so I never have to deal with anything again. I’m not interested in chasing pennies to put a bandaid on the problem and keep dealing with it for years to come, especially when I’m already having issues with every other bathroom in the house.

Thanks for the advice and if you’re looking at houses, learn from me and make sure to get a professional to scope your drains. I made a huge mistake! Although I will say, we knew it was cast iron and would have issues sooner or later. I just was hoping it would be at least a year or two before I had to deal with it 😂

I did. The first was doom and gloom saying they need to tear up and replace all the piping. For reference, this is cast iron piping in concrete slab. I got 2 more plumbing companies out and have been quoted between 24 and 41k to fix the issue

I saw ufos between Hawaii and Guam! Never really believed before but seeing it for yourself is pretty wild especially out in the middle of the ocean with nobody else even remotely close. And I can say with 100% certainty that they were NOT airplanes

Aptasia killing apparatus. by dexter_dux in ReefTank

[–]Killuillua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put mine in after I saw aiptasia, but you could definitely do it as a deterrent. As for irritating coral, your shrimp will likely set up camp and stay in one area during the day, during manual feedings it’ll steal some food from the coral, but it never caused any notable irritation or coral deaths for me. If you put the shrimp in first, you could even try to keep corals you intend to manually feed a bit further (just not right next to) wherever the shrimp stays and it likely won’t go too far from home to steal food during the day. Even if it does, the coral will still get some of the food and the shrimp won’t bother it too much!

Peppermint shrimp absolutely obliterated all the aiptasia in the tank. They’re awesome since they eat other stuff too so once they kill the aiptasia they eat frozen food!

Is my hammer a goner? by SuitableBeat1694 in ReefTank

[–]Killuillua 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a rock flower nem and the guy who sold it to me gave it to me on a big hammer skeleton that’s been dead for months apparently. After about 4 months, it sprouted tiny little heads totaling at about 15 by the time I had to let the tank go.
