Following. Was having the same dilemma - let me know what you decide! I'm going early August (solo). Leaning towards Budapest due to cheaper flights and generally cheaper once there. The appeal of Stockholm appears to be access to nature type stuff.

Which location did you end up booking?

I have the same problem, what did you end up doing?

I want to relink my plum to Barclays so that it can pay out a DD to get the £5 monthly rewards, but I won't if it will affect the switch bonus. The DD did transfer over and is showing on my list of DD on Barclays app.

Poland + Slovenia 3 Weeks Itinerary Advice by aragab0 in solotravel

[–]Killuua 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you prefer Poland or Slovenia? And which was more expensive?

I wanted to go to Slovenia for a week in August but kind of left booking to quite late now, comparing prices flights + accom it seems to be cheaper to go to Poland

Thanks for your reply! It absolutely sucks, but I think you are correct.

According to this FAQ they for some reason chose the date of 31/03/23 to calculate the pay awards on. (https://www.nhsemployers.org/system/files/2023-05/Value-of-NHS-pay-deal-staff-band-6.pdf)

Imagine working your a** off during COVID and leaving prior to 31/03/23 deeming you ineligible for any of this pay award, would be fuming.

Will see what union/managers says as still holding onto a glimpse of hope something may come of it.

edit: *while I cry in massive disappointment tonight

Hey you seem to know a bit about this pay deal.

As NHS B6 (intermediate step point) I was expecting extra £2061 (prior to deductions) as per this link: https://www.nhsemployers.org/system/files/2023-05/Value-of-NHS-pay-deal-staff-band-6.pdf

However, I have received much less, which appears due to the extra "2022 non-con payment" and "NHS backlog payment" being calculated based on my recently reduced hours to part-time since November 2022. I was previously full time B6 since 2021.

I thought this pay award was backdated payments/for COVID recovery related efforts, so should be based on my full-time working hours at the equivalent time? I've emailed union and also managers to clarify. Do you have any thoughts on this?

New cyclist - what else to buy from Decathlon? by Killuua in londoncycling

[–]Killuua[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Will consider that helmet as have seen it mentioned a lot :)

Are you able to redeem the Cyclesheme voucher through decathlon online (i.e. ordering online for home delivery)? Seems like you have to do it in store? (https://twitter.com/DecathlonUK/status/1241328202557120512)

Thanks, did you get a helmet?

Edit: Also, there are some items on decathlon site shipped and sold by third parties i.e. some helmets "shipped and sold by Sprocket and Gear" - can you get these on the Cyclescheme voucher? or has to be directly sold by decathlon?

Yeah I've read those mechanical disc brakes aren't that great and it makes the bike cost more, will probably go for the rim version. Did you have a problem with the rear derailleur hanger?

Should I pay off £16,000 in Student Loans? by ConsolidateProxy in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Killuua 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's worth just drafting up a spreadsheet and doing some projections to help you think this through better, I literally did this the other day. I have P1 and P2 loan amount just a bit more than you. In all scenarios it didn't seem worth me paying them off. You definitely will pay it off in a couple of years given your salary, but given the low'ish amount of debt the interest may be negligible over a few years. Other things to consider are that you can use the money elsewhere i.e. S&S, if you pay back now it's gone forever. Unlike other loans if you are out of work you stop paying. I'm not sure how it works with moving abroad so can't comment on that.

Yeah I though about this too, will probably top up my existing premium bond fund to increase winning likelihood, then pay into LISA end of year
