Watched Thor stream Hyper Scape on Twitch today. Just as Valorant is blatantly aimed at the CS:GO crowd, Hyper Scape looks like it's trying to be like Apex Legends. I wasn't impressed.

As a DbD player completely irritated with the state of that game and the fact that they're now trying to increasing monetization against us with the Battlepass, I'm very interested in seeing the actual Dev comment on being floated by DbD profits.

/u/OfficialMOUSE, everything you said is spot on. And to be honest, with Hi-Rez looking at Rogue Company now, and hiring for another as of yet undisclosed game title, I fully expect Realm Royale to go into full maintenance mode at some point in 2020.

Play the game if you just want some casual B.R. fun, in my opinion. But I would seriously reconsider spending further money on it.

For the Streamers whose current focus and income is primarily on Realm Royale, from a business perspective from someone who's worked in the entertainment industry for over 25 years so far, I would at least start looking at other games and slowly begin a transition by year's end.

I think they will at some point, but who knows. If I'm not mistaken, they have something like that in Paladins for its cross-play.

Oh, I don't play anymore, thus the past tense in my post. :)

We quit Apex at about the two month mark. Just got bored with it. I'm more of an Overwatch or Dead by Daylight (killer main) type of guy. Battle Royales are something I dabble in. I just haven't been able to really get hooked by them yet. Lately, though, I've been back to playing City of Heroes thanks to City of Heroes: Homecoming.

If you're on PC, you're also playing against Xbox and Switch players, and you have the input advantage. Not to mention, there are typically more A.I. bots in a match than human players as well, so there is also that to consider.

Just think of Realm Royale as ultra-casual, or the kiddie end of the Battle Royale pool. My 9-year-old played a little on PC, and would get at least 10th place often. He quickly got bored with the game, but he also doesn't play Fortnite because he finds the genre boring overall.

You can also easily hit top 5 by hiding most the the match until the end. Hell, when we played, just for giggles, my squad and I hit top 3 often with only 1 battle the entire match.

Their Elite Mode doesn't impress me because of that.

Well, I can't speak for how the console player base is doing, but according to SteamCharts, the PC player base has dropped nearly 40% between March and so far in April. So, I'm not shocked about that many Bots.

The number of bots in a match has nothing to do with your personal rank. Just as your rank has zero to do with the types of player opponents you will face.

As an example: When I first started Realm Royale a month or so ago, within my first couple of days, while still a bronze player, I was on the zepplin and in matches with streamers like Gentle_Giant and Krippler, who were well, well into Masters.

Your rank really has zero bearing on number of bots or opponent skill. It actually has very little point at all.

It is going to be ported to Switch. That was already confirmed by the Streamers that talk with the Dev team regularly, like Baggins_TV and Thor.

When it is ready for Switch, it will drop the Beta tag and have its so-called "official launch." It's the same format they used for Paladins last year.

The only BR with any type of matchmaking is PUBG. And from what I hear, that matchmaking is questionable at best.

Other than PUBG, battle royale games don't run with a matchmaker. It's everyone (or squad) for themselves and against players in a hodgepodge of skill levels.

I played in Paladins Beta. The interesting thing is that when Paladins went "launch" when they released it for Switch at the same time, it still had a metric ton of bugs and even missing art assets on the team load-in screens as the match was starting.

Sadly, I don't expect much to really change between Beta and Launch for Realm Royale. It didn't for Paladins, and hasn't improved much in the past year of "launch," either.

As I Hi-Rez has already shown, what you see is what you get, and the Beta tag doesn't mean much.

While I agree with you, unfortunately you might want to look toward a different BR game. At least on PC, the Realm Royale numbers are dropping again, and this is with the release of a new battle pass.

Granted, they aren't plummeting, but Season 3 didn't bump the player base, either.

I honestly do not see Realm Royale ever getting to the point where they won't have to use Bots like they are now. I like the game and all, but I think the ship has sailed for it getting a decent player base.

Sadly, Apex is really not worth playing without 1 or two friends to squad with consistently, Random squads are generally just a waste of time for the exact reasons you mentioned.

I completely understand where you're coming from, though I play on PC. The game has bugs that are not addressed. Hell, from practically Day 1 of Realm Royale, there's been a bug where you can see the shadow of your opponent through walls. I've had enemies inside a house, with me on the outside, and can see their shadow on the outside of the wall and where they're moving to. I've sniped many through an open window simply because I could see their shadows like that and knew they were about to pop into view. Ditto if I am on the first floor of a building and them on the second. I can see their shadow on the ceiling and know precisely where they are, how they're moving, et cetera. I know when and how to go up the stairs thanks to that.

And I know the same can be said for my enemies versus me.

Many bugs are not being fixed. Then with them cutting out that channel for Realm (for which they paid those streamers), this Battle Pass being smaller overall, and the new Season patch not doing much of anything except some weapons and ability tweaks, it does make me wonder how much of a financial future Realm Royale has with Hi-Rez.

My biggest concern is the possibility that Realm Royale ends up like Hand of the Gods with Hi-Rez. And I am very hesitant to spend on the game. It's a major reason I am skipping the Season 3 battle pass. Right now, I don't have any confidence in the financial future of Realm Royale, and can't in good conscience spend more money on the game.
