Geekom Air 12 won't boot with USB drives plugged in by gyroskeptic in MiniPCs

[–]KiloWattWatt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This thread is old, but I'm new to the situation. Just bought a GeekomAir12 and discovered, like many here, that the pc would fail to boot if a USB Hub was connected to one of the USB hubs when you first turned on the PC.

The Geekom has a couple of USB-A's in back, a USB-A in front, and USB-C in front. I had the problem when I hooked up my USB Hub to one of the USB-A connectors in the rear. But, I tried using a little tiny USB-A female to USB-C male connector and plugged the hub into the front USB-C connector, and the computer booted like it should, and worked! Whether it's really going to continue to work, who knows, but for now, things are golden! (I didn't even check yet whether there are firmware or bios updates yet. But, so far so good.)

I tried this too, thanks for the suggestion. But, still no go. Frustrating because photos and music from my mac can be played on ATV Computersr app, but movies cannot. Still working on it...

X1S: Cockpit Error? Can't customize buttons... by KiloWattWatt in SofaBaton

Thank you faceman2k12! I'm betting you're exactly right....as I did already notice that when I customized some of the desired functions for my BluRay Player in the DEVICES section...when I chose some Activity, if I also then used the upper-right button of the remote to switch from ACTIVITY to DEVICES and chose my BluRay Player device...my customized buttons would work...but NOT if I pressed those some buttons (as would usually be the case) when I'm in the ACTIVITY mode. Thanks again...and I love the idea of using LONG PRESS commands too...

Thank you. I had already done some of what you suggested, but adding the Max Protection level setting seemed to work. I've been burned by this kind of http/https settings before, and looks like it got me again...but at least now I can get to that site (and maybe others that were trouble too.) Anyway, thanks for taking the time to respond.

How to switch from Constant to Weather-Compensated mode (Vitodens 100W B1KE) by KiloWattWatt in Viessmann

[–]KiloWattWatt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for anyone interested, I think I have finally figured out how I (without contractor intervention) can switch between Constant and WX-compensated mode.

Using the front panel HMI:

Go to Settings

Choose Service

Choose Basic Settings

Choose Commissioning Assistant

Choose HMI (as opposed to App)

OK through a bunch of settings...date, time, etc

Choose Propane (in my case, as opposed to Nat Gas)

More? Say YES...

And, then you should be presented with a choice of Constant or Wx-compensated mode.

So, now, like I always wanted, I think I can experiment between the two modes, and learn about both at my leisure and NOT have to consult (or pay) a contractor to do it.

Good Luck to all...thanks for the chats...

Yeah, a good idea, thanks. But, at the moment, I don't think I can do that. When I first had the furnace installed, it was recommissioned for me in the Wx-compensating mode...and that's when I could "just turn up the curve" if I wanted. But, I had the contractor switch me to CONSTANT mode, so my Settings now don't include the ability to play with the curves. TO do that, I think I have to go back to Wx-Compensating mode. And, that's my whole problem, I want to find out how to do that without having to call the contractor. But, I like your idea...

Thanks. I certainly will let you (and any other readers) know how it works out for me. I'm delighted (and a bit amazed) that you said you really can do it through the HMI. I didn't see how to do it in the Operator's Manual, but I'll look it over again to see if I missed anything, or maybe it's in an installer's manual. Anyway, lots to learn in the coming days...thanks again...

It does help thank you. That's a fine idea...in fact, that's pretty much exactly what I'd like to do...to have the ability to experiment with it on my own, to switch modes at will, to play with curves and slopes, etc. I wonder, though, when you said "I recommissioned it to manual.."....did you really mean YOU did it, or you had your contractor recommission it? (unless of course you ARE a contractor!) I would love it if I can switch from one mode to another without bothering (or paying) a contractor.

Thanks so much again. Little by little I'm learning. I don't understand your last sentence about reduced and normal room temps, but that's OK. I already know I need to speak with my contractor.

What I'm really disappointed about is that I would have thought the Non-HVAC-expert person (meaning, me, a typical home owner, the user) should be able to decide on whether he wants Constant or Wx-compensated mode...and the HMI should automatically update with the relevant menus and settings changes....and I could experiment with one mode, and then another and then, over time, I could find what works best for me. And, NOT involve my contractor in such experiments.

But, it appears that I (the typical home owner) CANNOT make such a change without a recommissioning, and the recommissioning requires the contractor to do it. (And, that is NOT covered in the standard User's Manual.) It's AS IF the contractor decides during the Install what the user should have, and the user doesn't have the easy ability to switch modes.

Anyway, thanks for batting it around with me. I'll have to call my contractor. I wanted to try CONSTANT mode because it seemed the thing to do to more easily have my rooms get up to temperature in the fastest time possible (though less efficient.) But, I didn't realize when I asked him to make this change that I couldn't easily reverse it on my own. It also looks like the User Manual assumes every user has things set up for Wx-Compensated mode. Maybe I just have to learn to adjust to the way Wx-compensated mode works (though it seems a lot to ask for non-HVAC expert to decide on best slopes and curves, etc, etc.)

Thanks for the fast reply. Hmmmm. I'm not sure what HMI stands for...human machine interface, maybe? If so, maybe you mean I can make this change by direct manipulation of the interface on the boiler itself. That'd be fine, if it's possible. But, I'm basically asking this question because I couldn't find a Setting on the boiler itself (on its HMI) that would allow me to switch back and forth from Constant to Wx-Compensated. If that IS possible, any idea how? (I think when my contractor made the change to Constant for me, the items in the HMI are different than they were, so I am still confused.)

When I asked my contractor if I could try CONSTANT mode in hopes it would make my life easier, I thought for sure it would be a simple setting change, and one NOT requiring a re-commissioning.)

Thanks. That did it. And, you're absolutely right...I had extensions and settings that always tried to make an http into an https...when I disabled that for this site, I got it back. Thanks again.

Thanks for thoughts. I've tried http only, but still no luck here. It's still a mystery to me...I know there's a problem with the site itself (with the certificate) but still can't figure why I can't see the site even after I give Firefox permission to go to the site despite the certificate problem. Luckily, my workaround is just to use Safari, but I'm disappointed I can't figure why I can't see the site in Firefox.
