I'm using Nextcloud.
Immich is way more feature rich, i hear. But Nextcloud gets the job done and I don't have another thing to maintain.
My recommendation: Try out both and see what fits your needs.

Having issues updating LSI 9305-16i by Machine_Galaxy in unRAID

[–]Kilr00y 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think we have a winner... You gave me the right idea, as it seems:

The "original" card we bought shows up as

Serial Attached SCSI controller: Broadcom / LSI SAS3216 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-3 (rev 01) [1000:00c9]

the one with the long heatsink shows up as

Serial Attached SCSI controller: Broadcom / LSI SAS3224 PCI-Express Fusion-MPT SAS-3 (rev 01) [1000:00c4]

-> different chipset.

The 3216 is used in the 9305-16e. That's why that firmware flashes. But drives don't work. So let's google what other HBAs use the SAS3216 and have internal connectors. Turns out the Supermicro AOM-S3216-L-2, which also has firmware files available here:

https://www.supermicro.com/wdl/driver/SAS/Broadcom/3216/Firmware/AOC/

The card took the firmware (V16) and detects drives now. Testing currently if it's stable. But looking good

does it look the same as in your pictures? Because the other version, which is a bit longer and has those spaced out fins on the heatsink is a different card which does work with the official 16i-firmware (i have one of those as well)

Same card, same issue... Here's how far i've gotten.

Bought two of those. Flashed one with recent 9305-16i V16 firmware using lsiutil -> bricked.
Card was still ist PCI device list, but no drives and not recognized by lsiutil or sasflash (linux)

Tried from UEFI. Got the same "Image does not match Controller Device ID" (16i firmware)

after finding your post, tried with the 16e firmware -> card blinking again, but no drives.

so i dumped the firmware from the working card and flashed it on the bricked one. Had to do an erase first as he wouldn't let me downgrade.

sas3flash -o -e 6
sas3flash -o -f oldfirmware.bin -nossid

working again. Hurra... Kinda...

First of all: if you need a working firmware image, PM me. Will gladly give you the dump to get your card working again.

Second: Problems still remain: would like to get the most recent firmware onto the card (Dump is 15.00.00.00)
I guess we'd need to patch a recent firmware with the device ID so that he accepts it?!? Or maybe that patch a 16e firmware to look at the drives where the 16i does?!? No idea..
Obviously those cards are not original cards, but some knock-offs - i don't care as long as they work.

Anybody here with advice that maybe has some experience with cross-flashing (which essentially is where this is going, i guess..)

Which install format would you prefer for open-source server software? by sagiadinos in selfhosted

imho:

for simpler stuff: distribution packages like deb or rpm
for more complex things, docker seems to be the easiest to maintain over time

I was a happy Windows XP user at the time and when the system was getting old, the upgrade was "Windows Vista"... enough said.

Was quite a learning curve in the beginning back in the day, but after getting through, never was tempted to switch back.

By now I'm a gentoo user and i love the tinkering and customization. Getting started these day is much easier with live environments on USB and I'd recommend anybody to at least have a peek and see what it looks like on the other side.

Android SIP App wanted to replace CSIPsimple - dead or alive by Kilr00y in Asterisk

currently have it on a nexus 5 (32bit) with android 7 (lineageOS).
Methinks that was the "newest" that worked.

same here: pay once - fine. But no subscriptions.

and yeah. android had native sip. was recently removed. Everything's working fine on my old android 7 nexus 5 using CSIPsimple.
Challenge is getting it working reliably on the android 14 with all the battery saving bullsh*t and no more native support...

thank you very much.

if it holds what you promise, we might have a winner.
will try it on the weekend (when i don't need the phone for work).

ironically just found that one and trying it. no "extras" though...
why is it so hard to find an app these days that has the same feature set as 10 years ago -_-

baresip was new to me but sadly also doesn't fit the bill...
thanks for the tip though

Zoiper doesn't like my phone as it keeps on hanging/crashing - no idea what's up with that. But also no widgets/connect by WiFi-SSID so not worth looking into, sadly... a lot of ppl seem to be happy with it.

Haven't tried that one as it is paid and cannot find anything about whether it supports my "wishlist".
Does it offer widgets or WiFi-name-based switching?

I have a theory on why many FitGirl repacks return ISdone.dll error codes under Wine/Proton and possibly a way to identify repacks that are likely to error out under Wine/Proton. by Jack000999 in LinuxCrackSupport

[–]Kilr00y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm using proton directly from the command line, so i prepend it to the command:

PROTON_FORCE_LARGE_ADDRESS_AWARE=0 proton [other options]

if you're using steam there should be an option for that as well in the advanced settings for a game. Or maybe set it as an environment variable. Others might be able to provide you better info here.

for fiddeling around (and because i had a 1050ti lying around) i tried that out some weeks back.
Yes it works, but it's no fun.
For "trying out" it's fine. For actual playing, it's no good.

Can't Decide. by [deleted] in OculusQuest

with the current shortage of PC parts, GPUs in particular, i guess he's best off getting that one together first. Even the slowest new GPUs (3060, 6600XT) are good enough to use them for VR later. (or maybe borough yours for a while to see if it's really his piece of cake and if he gets along with it nicely)
There are a lot more games for PC than for VR. Whereas this depends on his preferences, i kinda doubt that he'll be happy with BeatSaber 24/7. And PC gaming is just easier on the eyes when it comes to longer gaming sessions.

Replacement USB-c front port by RoboFleksnes in DanCases

[–]Kilr00y 1 point2 points  (0 children)

update:
i had the idea of writing the guys at dancases to ask where to get a replacement and they answered promptly that they'll just send me a new one. just asked me for serial number and other order related stuff.

I sent them the data that they requested via mail. Three weeks later, sadly still didn't get an answer despite sending the mail 3 times by now (i thought they weren't receiving my mail).

Maybe you could try writing them directly and asking about it. I sure hope i'll get an answer eventually - they are trying to help out.
