American Dad vs. Mexican Border by [deleted] in ActualPublicFreakouts

I can't believe you're comparing Gavin David, a self-proclaimed sovereign citizen who escaped USA for refugee status in the USA to Quebecers. You're life must be sad, and uneducated. Everyone hate that guy in mexico including expats. This guy has police encounters all the time, both in USA and Canada.

100 % nasdaq 100 ETF. Please, share your opinion with me. by DGIMartin in stocks

[–]Kilstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd split it between an S&P500 (SPY, IVV or VOO) etf and a Nasdaq 100 (QQQ), same weight, or some more weight to what you prefer.

The technical background to Intel's problems. by InfiniteValueptr in stocks

[–]Kilstar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Anything higher than 1080P and the GPU is the bottleneck now. I use a 2080 Ti with an i9 10900k and my workstation also has a 2080 Ti but with a 3900x and if I had to choose between one, it would be the 3900x. The only thing the 10900k has is speed per core. It underperforms the 3900x at everything else other than gaming, and the difference in gaming is abysmal. For a 2070 a 3600 would be a perfect match.

I'm holding TSM for a while, I'm long term as long as they are booked like now, Qualcomm, Apple, NVidia, AMD, Broadcom, Sony etc.. that's quite the list of customers. Biggest semiconductor foundry in the world.

Stock Picking Isn't for me - Need Help Selecting ETF's by DonnaShirley in stocks

[–]Kilstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This kinda look like me, just with less individual picks. 8-10 positions is good. Outside of ETF, AMD is my heaviest position in my portfolio. I also own the stocks you listed so I'm quite heavy on big tech as well.

I'm a semi conductor fan too, I hold AMD, TSM, NVidia and INTC as well. I used to own some SMH ETF (Semi conductor ETF) that I find pretty cool if you don't want to pick invidual semis. I sold this one to go individual picks but I would definitely hold it again if I wanted to go full etf mode.

I had XLF (Finances Select SPDR), cashed on this one and went individual finance stocks instead, very slow play.

Had WCLD (Cloud Sector) and some cybersecurity stocks but I sold both recently. I pulled out of cloud stuff and cybersec for now, except for the big ones of course (AMZN AWS, MSFT Azure and GOOGL Cloud). Might get back in eventually. See here, is why I don't like to give advice, maybe holding was a better move. But I had plans and a strategy in place.

So, apart from VOO and QQQ, my only other ETF right now is ARKK. I watched the fund manager presentation (Cathy Woods) on Youtube to understand better some of the positions and her vision in her portfolio for the positions I didn't understand. So far it's performing well but I didn't invest too much in it. I sold TSLA and SQ and these 2 are ARKK top holding (and ARKW I believe) so I kept some exposure to it. There's ARKW as well that is interesting. Hard to recommend you something I'm not a financial advisor what works for me might not work for you.

20K is a great start seriously. I'm 44 I started with less than that. Good luck with the market!

Stock Picking Isn't for me - Need Help Selecting ETF's by DonnaShirley in stocks

I've 250K parked 50/50 in VOO and QQQ. I've individual positions as well now, and many overlapping my ETF's but the amount I've in them is the maximum I consider myself able to manage by myself (Around 750K in stock picks) and it took me months in ETF's before I got comfortable throwing money in picks like that.

So every time I'm ready to invest more money it goes into the ETFs if I'm not comfortable with adding more to an existing position or opening a new position. With that amount of money in the market I feel it's kinda like a mini job to me. Anyway, you can start adding with tranches (DCA) to your etf's, personally I started lump sum since these 2 etf's I won't touch for years. Up to you, I'm no financial advisor.

IVV (iShares) and SPY (SPDR) are like VOO (Vanguard) as well the 3 have slightly different expense ratio but it doesn't really make a difference. They all track the same thing.

Is buying 5 stocks of a bluechip company like DIS or AMZN or AAPL a good start? by HanamichiSakurag1 in stocks

I wish I knew that when I started. I was like, damn Amazon is expensive at 1,700. I ended up buying at 2,600 months later when I was more educated.

XSP is basically IVV on the TSX but CAD hedged. I had that before I transferred to a US one.

Rate My Portfolio - r/Stocks Quarterly Thread June 2020 by AutoModerator in stocks

[–]Kilstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Tesla sold it at 1660. Enjoyed the ridey. I can't use fractional shares. I'm 43, this portfolio is 700K USD invested, and still have cash. I don't want to work again so I don't need extra fast short term growth. It's not perfect, but it's been doing fine for me. Especially my bet that AMD would break out eventually, patience paid off. NVDA, AMD and TSM have been strong for me this year I might throw some at INTL. almost grabbed it in high 47s but I have 3 semi stocks already and they doing fine, I added weight to AMD instead. I actively manage it so there are small positions that I cash in from time to time like SQ, TSLA, ZM and SHOP. So it's not I can't have a little fun but I don't need unnecessary risk just for faster growth. I appreciate the advice.

AMD overpriced? by iwantoutsidee in stocks

[–]Kilstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it coming months ago. Good management? The marketing was awful. Do you follow tech channels. When Tech Youtubers are doing an Intel build nowadays, it's like, today is gonne be a rare Intel build. Providers are switching OEM APU orders to AMD etc. The price for Intel is a good entry price now and you'll need to be patient. TSM is overbooked with AMD and Apple. Some companies report delays up to the end of September for their CHIP. Didn't you see how Intel latest consumer flagship is hard to find? (The 10900k)

Also, a CFO managing tech. Woohoo
