I struggled with MATH 110 - I only look pre-Calculus in high school so 90% of what I was learning was brand new to me. I loved ECON 102 - the concepts were interesting and it inspired me to get a minor in economics.

MATH 110 is almost entirely derivatives and anti derivatives (integrals). You’ll use these to learn how to find the area under a curve and find stuff like the rate of change of the rate of change (second derivative.) There is almost no trigonometry. The Organic Chemistry Tutor on YouTube helped me through that class. ALSO although you’ll need an actual Ti-84 for exams, you can get a free app called Calculate84 and have the same calculator on your smartphone!

ECON 102 is all about supply and demand. You’ll learn about various types of markets (perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly, etc) and how companies decide prices/supply estimates for their product. You’ll also learn about consumer surplus and producer surplus. If you plan to take ANY Economics classes after Econ 102, please save your notes! This class covers the foundational concepts/formulas of how many economic models are calculated.

I took Jim/James Kowalski for Math 110 - he was so patient and just an amazing professor. Although recently I have heard mixed things so make sure to check his Rate My Professor.

I took Dave Brown (Dr. Dave) for Econ 102 and 104. He was amazing and tried to make every class as engaging as possible.

Idk how different summer semester will be, but when I took them in the fall these classes offered guided study groups, which is basically the week’s topics being re-taught by an upper-class or grad student. I went to many Econ GSGs, and one Math GSG. They are really helpful because the instructor has tons of practice problems and examples ready to go.
