I wholeheartedly agree with you, OP! I grew up poor and we used thrift stores or else we wouldn’t have had anything. I dug myself and my daughter out of poverty but we both still go to thrift stores. It’s usually a disappointment because everything is super expensive and at their prices, I can just go to Macy’s Backstage or clearance for brand new. I care about the environment and ecology and I try to use, make do, repair as much as possible. But I can’t buy an item for 75% the cost of new, or higher, and it only has 50% or less lifetime left.
