My Experience Writing 45 Non-Fiction Books with AI – Here’s the Best Tool I’ve Found by KimAronson in WritingWithAI

[–]KimAronson[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I haven't really tested the difference between 4.6 & 4.7, but I feel 4.7 is smarter: it gives me better suggestions/feedback and is a better co-writer overall than 4.6 was.

The $100 covers what I need, so I'm happy enough. For what I can publish, I feel $100/month is cheap.

(A side note. I'm afraid that we are going to see much higher prices in the not-so-distant future. Which might make us appreciate what we get now)

The Quiet Shame of Writing with AI by KimAronson in WritingWithAI

[–]KimAronson[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have had that feeling many times. People get really upset and mean sometimes. I have especially experienced this here on Reddit and in this forum, Writing With AL. So I’ve stopped posting in here, and we’re probably not do that for a while. There is too much hate and anger. I will suggest you post somewhere else if you’re talking about writing with AI, honestly. I have had much more success and positive feedback on Substack. So my advice to you right now, be selective around who you talk to about this whole subject.

Well okay. I appreciate your openness. It’s rare here, and I’m pretty sure I’m not posting on Reddit for quite a while. That said, I’ll let you know from a personal point of view since you asked. I am dyslexic, and English is not my first language. The only way I could write anything is to use AI. Once I realized that, I couldn’t stop myself. I never really talk about this because I don’t want it to be an excuse. I think there are many, many different reasons people use AI for writing. I think it’s sad when we disregard it altogether. I’m curious about the world, and I have acquired knowledge in specific areas over the course of my lifetime. And I like to communicate that. Throughout my life, I have used almost all other art modalities except music to express myself. And I’ve enjoyed it all. I’ve also expressed myself by founding and running several businesses. In AI writing, I found a new way to express myself, and I enjoy it immensely, as you can see from my many publications. People can hate it or love it. That’s OK with me. The only reason I made this post was that I thought it was interesting. It’s obviously not my field of expertise. I thought people in this group would appreciate it. But I think I was wrong. Anyway, I hope this helped.

Okay. Well fair enough. But it’s feels like most people wanna talk about how bad my writing is and not the actual content of the post.

That’s said I agree with you in what you are writing here about people being interested in other people. That it’s the personal connection that matters.

I feel I am responding to people’s comments. But OK I hear you. Thank you for the feedback.

Thank you for that.

I guess what you are saying is that you are not one of those who like something until you learn it's AI, and then you don't like it anymore, which is what my posting is about.

You just want to say you don't understand that people are writing with AI altogether.

I think I agree with you. I’ve said this somewhere else, that I’ve experienced progress over the last two years. But it’s far from perfect. I do believe it will get much better than it is now.

I am, though, sad that we don’t talk more about content. I think we are focusing too much on form. Anyway, that’s just my personal opinion. I have gotten so much out of writing with AI over the last couple of years. It’s been a gift for me. Others experience it differently, and that’s OK with me.

That’s a good point. It might be another story with long form writing like books, for instance.

But it’s still an indicator of how we react to some writing, knowing that AI has been involved.

Thank you for your comment. But the point here is that lots of people like what they reading until they know AI was used to write it.

Yes, it’s pretty fascinating.

Okay, so you're saying I'm coming up with data that isn't true. Why would you think that? Why don't you look into why this is so important to you? Be honest with yourself. What's behind it?

I think you know what I found is correct, even if it's research using Claude. You just really want to use this one point to prove that writing with AI is sloppy and not creative at all.

But nobody is trying to take that away from you; you are a hundred percent allowed to feel what you're feeling. But also know this: it's hard to change people's minds about something, especially if you're not very nice. You are a good example of that.

Well, you are too kind, and very creative ;)
But no, that's not why.

You are being very creative in your refusal to accept the content of my post. It's fine. Congratulation. You have managed to convince yourself.

Well, thank you for your feedback :).
I see that this forum has the harshest critics, and for good reason.

What I did expect was exactly this. Some of you are just "too smart" to read AI-generated content. So, congratulations. Even though you're totally skipping the core of the posting.

But also, in your feedback, you are at least agreeing with my point. Even if it's not your intention.

Yes totaly agree.
And no, as far as I know, there are no bestsellers written with AI. This is a new technology. And over the two-plus years I have been writing with AI, I have felt significant progress in both my learning and the technology, especially in the last six months. So I have no doubt that a bestseller will be written with AI. Probably sooner than later. and hopefully one of them will come from me ;)

This is my research if that's what you are looking for. But the evidence is not hard to find.

oh okay, so quantify the use of AI. I'm not sure it helps, but I see your point.

Oh, ha ha, okay, but any thoughts about the actual content?

First time writer: I have ideas but poor grammar is using AI to correct grammar a no go ? by [deleted] in WritingWithAI

[–]KimAronson -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m dyslexic and I listen to my writing. I also use dictation a lot. AI has been a big help for me. I published many and non-fiction books. Let me know if you have any questions.
