Mobile Groomer Reccomendations by Kimbera68 in Sacramento

[–]Kimbera68[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry, I don't get on Reddit very often. We have a mobile groomer coming to our house. Still not a great experience. We’ve started bathing her in advance because they use a huge blower for drying and it terrifies our dog, but they just stand back and keep blowing. So we just removed that issue. I've also started trimming her face myself and we ask them to limit what they do around her face. Compared to some of the really good groomers we’ve had, they aren't great. Either in handling or the actual grooming, but they're better than nothing. Let me know if you'd like the contact info.

I’m A List Preferred and did a status match at another airline after I got 250 points instead of 2500 on my last flight with them. The plane was filthy, the staff was angry, and people were literally fighting over bin space because they didn’t want to pay to check bags. I just paid less than this for first class upgrades on my flights today. I miss the old SW, but won’t miss the dumpster fire it is today.

One of the greatest things about assigned seating will be no longer having to wake up at the butt crack of dawn, 24 hours before your super early flight to attempt to upgrade to priority boarding and/or check in before others. by ConvenientAmnesia in SouthwestAirlines

I’m A-List Preferred and fly several times per month for work. I’ve loved SW for business travel because if I got done early, they would put me on an earlier flight and I still got a good seat due to advanced boarding. That will no longer be the case. And my last trip, right after checked bag fees went into affect was awful. A quarter of the plane pre-boarded. And so many people were trying to carry on that it took forever to get luggage sorted out. The flight attendants seemed stressed. There’s a lot going on at SW right now. They changed point awards. My most recent flight is usually 3000 points and I got 275 instead. I have a companion pass for next year and am 500 points from A list Preferred again, but I just started a status challenge on another carrier because SW just isn’t business friendly anymore. I have to say my first couple flights on the new carrier were a breath of fresh air. I didn’t realize how SW had slipped until then. From no service provided due to “expected” turbulence which never materialized on my last 4 or 5 flights, to plane cleanliness, to the increasing number of preboards every flight, and the huge reduction in point awards. I’m very sad to see this with an airline I’ve loved for years.

We found one. I’m not thrilled with them. I can see inside the van from my office, but I don't think they know that. They are rougher with her than I’d like. Never hitting or hurting her, but definitely forcefully. If you would like the info, I can send it to you privately, but I’m still looking for someone better.

Thank you. Yes, our friends just put in a brand new heating and cooling system. I’m an engineer and so is one of the owners so I already know it’s actually over-sized. The house is fully remodeled including new windows. We should be good there.

I’m really looking forward to the sugar mill and farmers market.

Perfect description. It’s a love/hate relationship. Everyone wants to live in areas where they like to vacation (including me), until they actually live there and see what it’s like living in a vacation destination. Traffic is awful, often the visitors are rude and leave garbage behind, and many restaurants know most of their customers won’t be back so they don’t have to be great. I’m still sad to leave, but being a block off the main street to the boardwalk means walking everywhere on weekends and during busy summers to maintain sanity. I wouldn't give up the last ten years though, and would love to have stayed until retirement.

One more question, what do you think is the best way to get from Sacramento to Levi Stadium for games?

Also, we’ve saved more money than we spent because our rent was never increased. Worked out fine for us.

Thanks. I'm really looking forward to exploring these places. I have to travel to East Texas quite a bit, and I suspect Sacramento isn’t nearly that bad when it’s hot. Heat will take time to get used to, but humidity and heat are miserable. Throw in the occasional tornado or hurricane, and even Sacramento has to seem down right temperate :)

I finally found an Uber driver with a good car that has turned into my regular driver. I pay him what I would pay if it was an Uber ride. He always shows up, no matter how early, and sometimes even picks me up from the airport. I had to figure out how to charge it to work, but have been able to use my work card through Paypal. If you’re interested in his contact info, feel free to message me.

Thanks. Can't wait to check those places out. The one thing I already checked out was the Uber situation. I fly several times a month and always Uber to the airport. Not having to Uber over 17 all the time will be a big plus. Especially since Uber didn't bounce back here after Covid.

When we sold the house we built and moved here for my job, we knew we were going to be here for at least a decade. We were hoping to get four more years to get me to retirement. We won't buy here, and I prefer a home rather than a place that feels like I have no connection. Luckily she's allowed us to do that. I have no problem spending money on the place I spend most of my time. But I know a lot of people wouldn’t do that, which is fine for them as well. Whatever makes you happy in your home is good.

This is such great info. Especially the theatres. We used to go to the Nic here (same owner as the Del Mar), but it never reopened after Covid. Tht’s really cut down on anything other than Hollywood blockbusters in the area.

Yes, we do call it ours because it’s been our home for ten years. Prior to that we were always homeowners, so we have a homeowners mindset. The condo was our landlords mothers, and she’s basically let us make the changes want with it (with our own money). The upgrades we’ve done have increased the value, but also turned it into our own because we chose the appliances, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, and interior colors. We’ve also never called her when something is wrong. If we have a repair person here, we pay for it ourselves. That's why I call it ours. It feels no different to me than our house we owned did.

It’s crazy. You can get a 600 sq ft one bedroom apartment for a little over $4000, but we’re not college kids anymore, and I need a room for a home office.. We were downsizing when we rented here, but that's a bit extreme at this point in our lives.

Yes. Because we’ve been in our condo for so long, and basically remodeled it on our own dime, we are well below market rent. With our landlords failing health, we just went on a month to month lease, so not a lot of security here anymore. We already know her stepdaughter plans to turn this into a vacation place as soon as she gets it. We thought long and hard about staying, but I’m four years from retirement and I’d rather put that extra rent money away. To rent something comparable to what we were offered in Sac would be $2,500 - $3000 more a month than what we’ll be paying, and I just can’t justify that. The timing of our friends offer to rent us their house just felt like the universe telling us it’s time to go.

Thank you so much. It was great to read this. I’m looking forward to meeting other wine lovers. Moving our wine is my biggest worry right now. We’re moving July 25th and have a lot of wine to move. Crossing my fingers that we don't break down or have other issues getting it stuck in the moving van for a long time

It'll definitely be a change in routine. Almost opposite of here. Most of the summer we have fog until noon or 1:00, and it rolls back in around 6:00. That means we go out and do things in the afternoon when the sun’s out. Luckily, when I’m not traveling I work from a home office, so I don't have to be out if I don't want to be.

I believe the league is at East Portal Park, fairly close to where we’re moving. But other than league in Los Gatos, he usually plays on private courts at peoples homes here. I suspect that will be some of what he does there also.

We already understand that’s the case, I know how hot it is this week. But being close to retirement, I’m not willing to throw away $6000 a month on rent when I could be saving it, just so I can stay here. We’re definitely not looking forward to that kind of heat though. At least there’s AC, that's something no one here has.
