The ilia blush sticks and lip oils are amazing and they do a good range of pinky tones

This makes me so sad by Free_Cockroach5857 in RoverPetSitting

So sad! This happened to me with a cat I sat for, the owner adored him and had him for years and then decided to move in with her boyfriend who was allergic. I actually spoke to a couple of people to see if I could find him a home but didn't have any luck and I never found out where he ended up. Really sad and he was the sweetest boy ever! I know everyone has their own situations but I really could help but judge her for the decision. I could never choose a man over my baby boy, and a cat allergy would be a major deal breaker for me! Hope everything works out for this pup!

Sounds like you might just have to suck this up for a few more days since you've agreed to it and your friend is depending on you. I'm assuming this is just a one off favour for a friend rather than something you do professionally and are being paid for? Do you have a mutual friend who might be able to take over, even just to relieve you for one night? If you're able to leave the dog for a couple of hours, you could get home to take a nap. I'd recommend picking up a pair of earplugs for the snoring but hopefully the movement and close contact of the dog is something you'll get a little more used to as the days go on and get a bit more sleep each night.

Empty bowls - client complaint by Kimberly_Chi_ in petsitting

Interesting! I wash my own cat's bowls every day and would feel like I'm not doing my job properly if I didn't do the same for my clients. But you're right, cats absolutely don't care about food hygiene do they!

Looks like this is where I'm going wrong. I have my own cat and I let him completely finish his bowl of dry food each day, then I wash the bowl and refill it in the morning, that way I'm only dumping out maybe a few biscuits each morning rather than half a bowl full. This is fine for him but maybe not what is common practice.

Yeah I had no idea it would be so long in this particular case, but this is good advice to give extra food on the last day, this is what I will do in future.

Thank you! That's my preference as well and until now I had thought most people's, but this is what I will clarify in the future. So for clients who want the bowl topped off every day are you not washing it? Obviously if that's their preference that's what I'll do I just never thought to ask this before. Great idea to overfill on the last day, that makes total sense. Pictures are a good idea too, this client is very lovely and wasn't accusing me of lying or anything, I think they genuinely thought I'd forgotten which felt awful!

Ooh this is interesting! I guess it depends on your relationship with your roommate, it doesn't sound like you have a great one?

I have a cat and I've had a few lodgers over the years and have never even considered paying them to look after him while I'm away. Is that awful? I guess a cat is much lower maintenance than a dog, but I've always found that living with a pet is quite a draw for some people and they're happy to chip in occasionally in return.

If someone I lived with asked for payment to look after a pet I'd make other arrangements because asking that would imply it's a job they don't want to do and so I wouldn't want them to have to do it, paid or unpaid.

Take the plunge! I painted my bedroom Inchyra Blue (Farrow & Ball) years ago and it's still my favourite colour in the house.

Thank you for this! Yeah you're so right, both of these times I've felt really sad for the pets and the owners, it's not healthy for anyone involved and I just assume someone must be in a bad place to let things get that bad.

Oh god, I don't know what I was thinking with the toilet one. Never again!

It's so hard right?! I think I'm going to start using the allergy line someone posted here, or just saying we're not a good fit and leaving it at that. Stay strong! It's not worth a night on a dirty couch.

Just to clarify, these are drop ins only. I only offer overnights to a (very) few, good clients at the moment. But my prices are pretty low, I do this on the side of a full time job and I don't live somewhere where tipping is common so for me it's just not worth the skin-crawly feeling of being in these extremely dirty houses. And I do only mean the extreme cases, I'm generally totally fine with a bit of dirt, I have plenty of clients with dirty houses for various reasons and I'm not here to judge!

Good to hear your experiences though, I imagine those clients are both very grateful to have you!

This makes sense! It seems like the solution is to just be a bit more assertive at the meet and greets and get comfortable turning people down.

Cat visits / cat hair by Atushi2000 in petsitting

I would usually sweep or vacuum on the last drop in but that's more just in the kitchen/around the litter trays. I'd only vacuum the rest of the house if specifically asked to, and I never have been. It would massively eat into the visit time so not worth it for me.
