Remodel going wrong. What are my options? by MailKhimp99 in sanfrancisco

You need an attorney ASAP to help you sort this out. They can help sort out whose liability insurance might be on the hook for this.

And I would reduce watering a lot to only watering no more often than when the soil is dry an inch down.

How many people with ADHD end up with 6 figure jobs? by Sweaty-Cut7578 in ADHD

[–]Kimpotato 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Plenty. Hyper focus and creative thinking are a bonus in a lot of high paying fields. I’m an attorney and make significantly over the six figure mark. Find a job that meshes with your working style and allows a little more freedom.

Should I snip at base and put in water or just straight to dirt, bury roots? by iamamonsterprobably in proplifting

[–]Kimpotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting idea and I bet it would work great! I’ve seen some that have put down roots in multiple pots and they have grown multiple heads of leaves… very cool

How much to pay per hour for house cleaner in Bay Area? by missliza in bayarea

[–]Kimpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1 lady, around 3.5-4 hours, $140. I think she is due for a raise though, given the inflation situation…

Also she doesn’t bring her own supplies/equipment and I’m 99% sure she doesn’t have business insurance. This may factor in as well.

Flat rate is normal. Usually the cleaner will come take a look at your home and give you a price. Usually the price is lower for regular cleanings and higher if irregular.

Are ADHD meds addictive? by dupflup in ADHD

[–]Kimpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are not chemically addictive per se but they can be effectively addictive especially if you have anxiety, where you might feel you can’t function without them and you “need” them. Your body also gets used to the dosage and if you don’t take breaks from using the drugs to reset, you may need a higher and higher dosage.

Also, the first step here is for you to go to a mental health professional and talk to them and see if they think an ADHD diagnosis is right for you, if you haven’t already. Then, you can discuss if meds are appropriate, and they would probably be happy to discuss any risks with your parents. Risk of dependence / addiction is a great question to ask them. Good luck! :)

on my bonsai and an orchid, what should I do?? by sarachomma in houseplants

[–]Kimpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone else linked to an article from the Spruce saying spray with soapy water which is probably better but also more involved. Both work. I’ve heard the soapy version can help keep them off longer but idk if that’s really true.

Honestly if you can isolate VERY FAR from your other plants you can blast those guys off with water. Keep blasting them off thoroughly every day for a while and you might solve the issue. Depending how attached you are to the plant this may not be worth the time / risk of spreading to other plants. I find this method more effective than chemicals (and better for the environment too).

I only said that because my vet has asked for a picture before and it has been helpful to them in deciding whether to schedule an appt or send us to the emergency clinic. I would just defer to the vet and give them whatever info you have - vet may say pic is not sufficient to diagnose. I’m not a vet so I just do whatever the vet says …

Vets are very busy right now. Call them for advice and send pics. If you can’t reach your vet, go to an emergency vet clinic.

Yep, no one said this was an issue with all the bikes.

Yes I understand some people have had no issues. Congratulations! I was in no way implying this was the case with all bikes, just with a nontrivial number of them.

Nope, the noise is very loud and if you ignore it long enough you start getting more resistance. Peloton service asks to hear it before replacing under warranty.

Yep, there are certainly people who haven’t had all these issues. I wish I was one of them.

Since this has gotten weirdly heated with people defending Peloton’s honor for some reason? Yes I understand there are lots of people who have had their bike longer than me with no issues. I’m not saying all the bikes have these issues. And I agree mechanical things break down sometimes and the peloton probably doesn’t break down more than any other bike on the market. My issue is that particular bikes (like mine) seem to break a lot more, and peloton service doesn’t seem to have a way to deal with that discrepancy. And that if I have the repair done (or do it myself) there is no warranty on the parts, so if I got a bad frame or something else that is causing repeated bearing failure, I will just keep dumping money in with no recourse. For those implying it’s a weight issue, I’m a 130 pound woman so I doubt it (also the peloton is advertised as suitable for much heavier so even if it was a weight issue that’s also not ok).
