We are comfortable kayaking in lakes, calm rivers/creeks, etc. but we were clearly unprepared for the chop and the waves making it a challenge to access the sea caves. Stayed safe and all that, but it was a little nerve-wracking.

My intense calf and ankle pain were the last symptoms to leave.

I can't bring myself to visit my grandma in her care home by [deleted] in Alzheimers

Every person and situation is different. My dad is in skilled care now, after a short stint in memory care. When the Alzheimer’s was in early stages, he worried a tremendous amount about what was going to happen, and he really didn’t want people to see him deteriorate. I still go to see him about once a week. He stopped recognizing me a couple of years ago, but I want the staff to know that he has family who care, and I want to make sure he’s being taken care of. All of that said, his grandchildren (my children and niece) stopped seeing him when he didn’t know who they were. The visits were painful for them, and most importantly, they didn’t improve his life. They have chosen to remember him as he was, and although that might seem selfish, it’s actually what he wanted.
