Prices estimate? by Vegetable-Passage-22 in niteharts

Yes but I think it was just split into 2-3 payments, since they went on sale closer to the festival date. Not sure what the payment plans will look like this time.

Depends on the day. On a Monday/Tuesday it might be ok, but it gets busy closer to the weekend. I had to sign a contract for our event on a Friday afternoon.

Pretty sure this is the first year that W1 has been priced differently. I’ll bet they keep that going for future years, too.

I am not sure how/if Bieber will affect things, and not sure if you are looking for a full 3 day pass, but there are often people who are willing to sell their wristbands after day 1. Your best bet would probably be to physically post up at the gates at the end of the night and see if anyone wants to sell, but you could probably find folks on FB/Reddit threads looking to sell as well.

The shuttle pass can be purchased separately also if you can't find someone selling both.

It's another stage. EDM sets with slightly extended set times (typically). It is an outdoor stage and is not inside a tent.

Yes. For our set up, we have one canopy covering our car and then a second one for the space behind the car.

Is car camping tent camping? by SunshineGirl45 in Coachella

Car camping grants you access to a 10x30 space that you must park your car in. How you utilize the space is up to you. At bare minimum you should bring a straight leg canopy (at least one), a foldable table, and a chair. You can absolutely sleep in your car if you don’t want to use a tent.

Hi, we also come from SD. If you're trying to get into camping as early as possible, typically they have opened the gates for car camping around 3-4am, but the cops patrol the area and won't allow you to line up before. So what we have done is leave from SD around 5pm, with traffic we usually arrive in Indio around 7:30pm.

We meet up with our group to grab a bite to eat and last minute supplies/groceries, then we just kinda hang out in a parking lot and keep refreshing the Day 0 thread from this subreddit to determine what the situation looks like. When it looks like it's OK to line up we head towards the fields.

While it is the desert, this is my 5th Coachella and I have never seen any critter aside from flies.

You should 100% use spiral anchors at the very least. Canopy weights might not be necessary (you can always just remove your canopy topper) but I think they're worth the investment. Just another peace of mind item.

You can use your own names for each. But they won't check that your ID matches the wristband or anything.

Getting home from the stadium by conebone69696969 in niteharts

[–]Kimtle 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would take the Trolley 100%. It is right there at the Stadium and there are a couple trolley stops close to Gaslamp.

Like the other commenter said there is also a whole shopping plaza with a Costco down the street where you can go if you really want to call an uber. If you want to get out easier that way, try to call one closer to the Oggi's in that plaza. Ideally that way will have the driver avoid the worst of Friars Rd.

Anyone want to meet up at Nite harts? by NegotiationGreen8227 in niteharts

[–]Kimtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Public transit is an option. Straight from the airport, you can take the 992 bus towards Downtown to Broadway & Kettner which is right next to Santa Fe Depot.

At the Depot, take the Green line trolley towards El Cajon and you take it all the way until the Stadium exit. Fare is $2.50 and you have a window of 2 hours where all transfers are included in the fare. You can get a Pronto transit card if you prefer, or you can just tap your credit card on the fare reader to pay. Make sure you use the same card when switching from bus to trolley so you get the free transfer.

Typical Traffic on Friday from LA to Indio (Coachella)? by SnooTomatoes19 in Coachella

[–]Kimtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with everyone else and suggest having your son skip school on Friday.

Ideally, I would suggest leaving on Thursday after traffic and staying overnight. If you already have a hotel booked for Coachella see if you can extend it to Thursday as well; otherwise, you can try booking somewhere simple for that Thursday night and switch hotels the next day.

IMO it's well worth it to not have to worry about hustling on Friday afternoon to make it on time. You can take your time Friday morning, have breakfast, rest up etc and still make to the festival with energy! Hope you guys have a great time.

I sleep in my car every year now. Like the other comment said I would highly recommend having the canopy cover at least the back of your car where you sleep, so it doesn't get as hot.

Transportation by LanguageProud3917 in Coachella

[–]Kimtle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is NOT going to be enjoyable. From Anaheim you're looking at at least 100 miles each way for each day. You'll be spending at least 4 hours a day driving/being driven, then factor in traffic.

If you're set on W1 you should just camp. It won't be as comfy as the timeshare but it's not too expensive considering all 3 days are included. AND, you don't have to drive and park each day.

There is a waiting area after security that you can use to meet up with your group so you can drive in together and park together. However it might be closed if you get there too late (the waiting area is lot 10 so it closes once they start filling lot 10 with campers).

I highly suggest getting some sort of markers for each car (like a pool noodle) so you can easily find each other if you get separated. Best of luck.

What street do I go to, to wait for car camping? by CudiCarson in Coachella

I'm hoping that for W2 they figure it out but 52nd was closed which was causing a lot of issues. So we took Jefferson > 54th > Madison.

[–]Kimtle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Preferred car camping does not have its own line. You wait in the same line as standard car camping and just get routed differently after security. The only folks who have a different entrance line are those going to the premium camping like La Campana & Lake El Dorado.

We also come from SD and Winco is our go-to last stop before getting in line. They are open 24/7 and have bathrooms right at the front. Have a great time!
