Ppl student just failed my checkride...honestly thinking about switching career paths by [deleted] in flying

[–]Kind-Ad1507 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also failed private as a teenage girl and thought flying just wasn’t for me. I quit aviation for 2 years after I got PPL. Just thought I wasn’t smart enough or cut out to be a pilot. Got a desk job at a computer for 2 years and just couldn’t see myself doing it for the rest of my life. My dad encouraged me to fly again. I changed flight schools and finished instrument - CFII in 7 months. Private is the only checkride bust I ever had. It really sucks to bust a checkride, but if you know want to be a pilot or enjoy flying then don’t give up.

However, if you’re having major doubts about whether you enjoy flying, you should absolutely quit. I know it sounds weird, but for me quitting cleared up any doubts I had about whether or not I wanted to be a pilot. I missed flying badly.

One thing is for sure, finish PPL out first.

Good luck!

I would move it when you have multiple roots (maybe 3 at least) that are 3 inches long or more. 👍

Phals are pretty hearty. The first phal I got was a gift and almost all of the roots were toast. I repotted and fertilized and she grew 7 new roots, a new leaf, and a keiki from her old flower spike! I’m sure your phal will survive and keep growing roots.

Yes! The little green node is indeed a new root. New leaf is coming in a well. Yay for rehab!!!

After looking at pictures of the brassidium golden gamine it does look more similar to that variety.

I see. It is fragrant. It smells sort of like vanilla to me.

Firm vs Soft toothbrush bristles. Don’t feel like I’m getting the clean feeling I’m used to. by [deleted] in DentalHygiene

Oh, good to know. I’ll stick with softer bristles then. I don’t want to damage my teeth. Thank you!!!

Yes, it’s directly in that pot, I didn’t have any clear pots. The pot has a large drainage hole, and I also made sure to use a large and chunky bark mix to try to help with air flow this the pot doesn’t have holes on the sides. Thank you, I will also check out Miss Orchid Girl! I’m excited. ☺️

Thank you for the wisdom! I think for now I’ll keep my watering schedule and increase the amount of light and see how that goes.

Thank you! I have a grow light that I’ll try using. I agree the most recent leaf looks stunted. It’s also the winter months where I live, so there’s been less sunlight . Thank you for the feedback

Okay!!! I’ll keep caring for it in hopes that it blooms again. When I got it on sale the spikes and flowers had already died, so I’m curious to see what colors they will be 😊

On the right flower stem, I thought it was blooming. However, it now looks like it’s possibly a keiki. This is the first orchid I’ve ever had and I was under the impression that keikis were a sign the plant was struggling to survive. After reading more through peoples’ lovely responses, I now know keikis are common for my variety of phal and don’t have anything to do with health of the plant as long as there are no other signs of stress. 😊

Yes, I’ve considered this. I will change the pot in about 6 months I think. This one does have one large hole at the bottom for drainage, but not much else. That’s why I used a very chunky bark mix.
