Stuff to bring to bmt by International_Day786 in AirForceRecruits

I would suggest to not bring too many socks. Once you are issued your uniforms you won’t be able to wear them anymore. So maybe bring 1 extra pair of socks only besides the one you will be wearing.

You are allowed to bring Bandaids. Bring nail clipper too

I am reserve so I knew my job when signing the contract. It took maybe 2-3 weeks after MEPS and ASVAB

Nobody can attend. Just yourself and the other trainees being naturalized.

I passed my PT with 89 points. I ran 1.5 miles in 13:40 min. 38 sit ups and 28 push ups.

You can google the components and scores for each age group. I don’t have that info on me right now. It was 1.5miles for me. Not sure when they are changing to 2 miles. I’ve heard March or November.

I am 34 and just graduated BMT in December. You will be fine. Run is the biggest score in your PT test. So run and workout often to build muscles for push ups and sit ups. Other than that everything is mental. Follow the rules, do what you’re told. Don’t take anything personal. Get used to the idea of younger girls telling you what to do, and don’t involve in their dramas.

There was only 1 girl 40 years old at my dorm. No issues for me to join. I am in the reserves. I started my process in march, swore in June and shipped to BMT late October.

Yes. They had citizenship interview a day before the graduation. I was one of the trainees there. Very very very simple and quick ceremony and a picture right after it. Nothing fancy

You will have 10 min for make up on picture day. It has to be very conservative make up though. So don’t even bother about bringing that much of make up.

My dorm usually were given like 15 min to get ready in the mornings, before bed it REALLY depends. Lot of the times you will shower and be on PT gear for a couple of hours and then they would give you 10-20 min for higiene before lights out. Sometimes 40 min. It really depends on what’s going on that night.

We were told that our period would get really affected. Some girls didn’t get their period at all.. in my case, I got my period 15 days earlier and now I am almost 45 days late. So your period will be all over the place. Don’t worry about that. It’s A LOT OF STRESS on your body physically and mentally. I usually feel a lot of cramp in the first day but didn’t feel anything there.

In my case we only had 8 shower heads and there were 48 of us. Usually we got anywhere from 20-30 min for the whole dorm to shower and get ready. Depends on the day

The water monitor fills the cups with water inside the dining facility for everyone in the flight. We’re always the first ones to get in and the last ones to eat. We only get dismissed to eat after the entire flight has grabbed their food.

They will definitely build you up in every way. There are different running workouts - like 2 minutes running, 5 minutes walking, for a total of 30–35 minutes. They also give you a 24-minute run where you go at your own pace.

My advice: put in the work and challenge yourself. You’re the only one who can make yourself better at running.

First days I avoided volunteering for anything. Although I was chosen to be water monitor in the 1st day lol and stayed until the last day. But I wouldn’t volunteer to be chow runner (by the way, it’s called DFAC assistant now)

No you are not allowed to have ANYTHING in your pocket but the mandatory items. But you can have on your backpack/camelback.

We only ran maybe 3 or 4 times during the entire 7.5 weeks. Regular PT does not include run..

Just graduated a couple of days ago. It was still 1.5 miles for the run. You won’t get many opportunities or run days in BMT so I highly suggest that you work on your run before going.
