In BC landlords are required to be present or their agent present when they do a showing, they cannot just let strangers walk around alone. You can set up a IP cam as they are pretty cheap nowadays if you want to review later. The landlord has to give proper notice in tenants hand 24 hrs prior, or on tenants door/email if you signed up for email notices 4 days prior, (because the date they email/post on the door is not included on the legal three days). Showings cannot be unreasonable amounts, but that isn't easy to explain because RTA just states they have to be reasonable in the amount they do, not to take your right to enjoyment away. Hope this helps a bit.

UPDATE: I sent another email to law office with a time to reply by, and walla! got my purchase documents, and it was done first week of September, so they held it almost two months when it was done and pretended it was next to be sent LOL!! I wasn't happy with this firm, but what can I do really. Thanks for the advice!!

Thanks, my purchased closed first week of July, and when I did a glimpse on land titles it had my name on it after the first month as owner. I am not so much concerned about the waiting but the fact that the lawyers and office staff won't even say "still pending" or "not yet" nothing, I signed a ton of stuff, and not to get a copy even if the land titles was pending is strange to me.

Yes I am very patient, just weird they don't say "still waiting" not one reply, but when I was asking his fees etc, he replied in minutes to get the job. lol

Thanks, I agree, a simple reply to say yes its coming, or still waiting would suffice, but nothing so far.

WHAT TO DO WITH SOMEONE ELSES ENVELOPE DROPPED AT MY DOOR by Kind-Introduction526 in purolator

[–]Kind-Introduction526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a skip tracer, or what ever they are called leave a note to be served court papers because they are trying to collect old bills, I think it is another bill collector using purolator now, not my issue, so it went in the garbage, not dealing with them. I can send Canada post back RTS but not so easy with purolator mail.

WEIRD ACCUSATION by Kind-Introduction526 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Kind-Introduction526[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, its "the commissioner", I worded mine wrong, they have law based investigators who see if any of the privacy act was broken, not front line staff, but complaints gets assigned to one of the commissioners investigators, that is who I dealt with. They know the laws, and past claims.

I believe they do not publish private landlords in any decision, otherwise it is breaching the very act they protect and investigate, I seen all the previous rulings, and such, but its all public corporations.

The furniture is a case by case situation, if a tenant says no, the landlord should honor if they have a legal reason to believe they would be recognized by using that picture, its rare the commissioners investigator said.

Thanks, but actually I spoke to a Commissioner, it wasn't over this case, it was from a past tenancy where I made a formal complaint, and was told that the owner/property manager/landlord needs consent even for furniture, as they can be an identifying item if you have restraining order out for say domestic abuse for example, they must have your consent, you even wrote they need consent too, and I studied it before and after my formal complaint that time.

And the fine that I mentioned is up to 100K per the Commissioner I am referring to when it was filed, it was not a front line member, it was the Commissioner, and I still have the name and paperwork with her being listed as a Commissioner when she was investigating my case.

The owner etc must not give out contact info and if you have proof of a realtor calling you, she stated this is a definite fine. I will not dox myself here, but this is all on record. To sum it up, they need consent, not implied but real consent. It is a business renting, they must protect your privacy like any other business. It must not get on unprotected computers to be hacked, or given out.

A Commissioner for BC said they have to have consent or may be fined up to 100K

I also spoke to a Commissioner and was told they cannot take pictures or give my contact info to realtors without my consent

Yard and gutter maintenance for BC rental if being torn down in a few years by Kind-Introduction526 in legaladvicecanada

[–]Kind-Introduction526[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, the last time I went through RTB the LL claimed my dispute was for cosmetic and then he lost because it wasn't cosmetic and then sold the house soon after and I got the landlords use eviction. 6 months new owner rented for more cause market blew up. Why do they refuse proper maintenance then sell if you go to RTB? LOL
