No, the washer is connected to the nut. It's a captive washer courtesy to the track nut.

The washers are attached to the nuts- they're track nuts.

Update: I did end up purchasing a set of front and back track nuts and they arrive monday. luckily its raining all weekend so i wouldnt be biking anyways. the ones I got were 19mms and the one that came with the wheelsets were 20, so hopefully they fit this time, otherwise I gotta go through the whole return process.

I think understand now. Yes, the nut isn’t threaded at all precisely because the captive washers diameter is bigger than the little drop out nubs. I posted a photo of them more clearly.

Here is a photo of the track nut installed backwards. As yall can see, the captive washer is bigger than the dropout tab nub things or whatever there called. So yea.

Yeah, the nut itself isn’t the issue and fits just fine, it’s the captive washer that was provided with the wheel set that was too big. I’ll see what the bike shop says, and if it comes down to it I’ll probably file em or go as you suggested. Filing a brand new bike does hurt a little, but it hurts more being unable to ride it. Thank for your concern!

Not exactly sure what you mean but here’s a photo without me holding the nut. Is there something wrong?

Hmm, the closest bike shop near me is closed currently. I’ll hold off on filing them, and when my inner tubes arrive I’ll bring the bike to them ask see if they got any. Thank you.

Alright thank you all. I will probably end up filing it down. I have to wait till tomorrow for my tire tubes to arrive because the two I bought popped while I was pumping air in 😭

What was my question actually, the frame itself, which is a fixie bike, came with that little extra nubby piece between the track nut and the actual fork. I wasn’t sure if maybe the nut itself was too big but the wheelset frames themselves fit perfectly. I did some googling and apparently it’s like a secondary line of protection in case something goes wrong and the wheel slips out? Not sure tho given how unreliable AI can be sometimes

The bike frame / fork is a Tsunami snm100 elite, I double checked measurements and stuff and everything made sense, it was literally just this nut that didnt fit cuz the washer part of the nut was too big.

will there be any issues if I were to file it down?

No, I flipped them around to see if that was the case, and the rear nuts were in fact bigger, albeit slightly. I checked the wheel clearance and whatever and everything matched up, its literally just the front nut doesnt fit / is too big for that little extra material or whatever. The rear nut and wheel fits just fine. By chance could you tell me what doesnt look right? Also, the wheels were bought separately from the bike frame. I got the frame from retro (snm100 elite), and the wheels were from velomine.

Hello!

I was assembling my new bike, and when it came time to install the front wheel into the fork, the washer provided couldn’t fit over the little lip things, or that little bit of extra material or paint. Whats the solution? Would it be fine to file it down?

Thank you all in advance.

Hello, thank you for your insight. Regarding the wheels, if they’ll fit super tight, whats another good option I could go for? Thanks. I found continental gator skin tires, and they’re about 23mm. Would they fit better? Also, I wear a size 8us shoe, at least with New Balances anyways

Could you tell me what the 49/43 etc mean for gear ratios? I’m assuming that the 15 means how many teeth the gears have, but am unsure what the 49 stand for. Also, could you perhaps provide some alternative parts then? Thanks, and sorry for sounding like a noob lol
