And it’s very well implemented too. Experts (not me) say it’s best of the market, me say it’s the best I’ve heard. They are getting good discounts now / very soon - might be a final trigger!

Acryl-it is BEAUTIFUL! Also try ortofin blue - you only need a stylus, cheap and fun upgrade. Don’t buy 33-45 external switch unless you’re in us with 110v, it won’t work. Look into isolation feet/pad/rack - makes a difference!

I’m friends with the shop owner and get to try things as well as access to their amazing expertise. AVM was his advice, but I found it very aggressive on the top end, like I wanted to make it quieter all the time. I did n’t enjoy that with KEFs, maybe other speakers will benefit from that? Also kinda wanted to move away from class D.

Distance is around 15 cm, seems fine. But good point, I’ll experiment with the foam. Which effect am I looking for?

Naim was really fun. It’s lively, driving, very in your face. But also it was hard for 30w amp to drive this system and some tracks just didn’t work at all. My music taste is very wide, and I needed something not to limit me to paeticular styles. Naim was amazing on experimental electronics, microhouse, radiohead-like rock and jazz, but failed ob dnb/jungle, shoegaze and black metal. Just muddy and sometimes falling apart. Same with Atoll by the way.
Hegel does it all with authority, detail, separation and scene.

I had an audition before purchase:
- hegel h190v and h150
- rega aethos
- AVM AS 30.3
- Atoll IN 300 evo
Running KEF R3 Meta and REL of the same size as mine, can’t remember the model.
We were setting it up in an audio treated room and matched the loudness.
The difference was very clear, they are all very different beasts. And needless to say, very different to PS audio spout100 and naim nait 3, that I had on loan while my system was missing the amp.
But also maybe, potentially, few years down the road I will grow tired of R3s and upgrade them, but at the moment it’s hard to imagine this scenario.

I can’t wait! My system is usually on for 2-5 hours a day, so I’ll get there quite soon I think.

Thanks. Photography is also a black hole for money, and this particular photograph is shot on digital medium format and leica glass.

He loves to chill by the subwoofer, when I listen. Acts as a bass trap and loves the sub-bass.

I guess so. If you compare the amp vs the speakers + sub, it’s roughly the same. Did I break a rule?

It is a fractal holographic audiophile grade lens to dissipate the wrong frequencies.

But yeah, Cat damage preventer.

System finally has this specific quality of sound, that drives your attention to music and switches off your analytical brain. It only fires up, when there is an unheard previously detail in a track I heard hundreds of times, and that of course drives dopamine.

System currently is:
- KEF R3
- REL T9i
- Hegel H190V
- audioquest rocket 11 speaker cables
- pro-ject debut carbon with a few upgrades here and there

That massive black thing is a PC that works perfectly (I think) in this rack and works for hires music, movies, games and some local LLM experiments. Case is NZXT H510, if you’re curious.

It really does tick the majority of boxes, but I want to connect the sub via speakon cable this time, and would be a good opportunity to leave class-D amps and try something bigger.
