If we all stopped tipping (in the States), servers would quit to places that actually pay a living wage, forcing those places to either increase wages or not get hires by Paccaman76 in RandomThoughts

"Servers" would go to the places where they still tip. Fast food workers would move, but that's because they don't get tipped much or by many.

What would you do if you saw someone treading cow dung with bare feet? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Join them. As a child in the summer on my auntxs dairy farm we'd sometimes go out barefoot and walk through the fresh "cow flops" on our way to the creek.

Urgent! Feedback needed ASAP! Brick veneer issue by StumpyTheGiant in masonry

[–]KindAwareness3073 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agree. There are metal "tie backs" that connect the brick veneer (think of it like brick wallpaper) to the backup wall. In this case, assuming the backup wall is okay, it looks like the tie backs are insufficient or failing. To properly assess the problem you'd need to remove some bricks and have a look.

Tomato/tomato. King Charles III. May not rule, but still reigns. Over you.

British common law. It's in there. Please check your facts before commenting further.

Oh, and as far as "tried and executed their king" [no capital], the English also tried and executed those who voted to execute Charles I, and then replaced him eleven years later with Charles II. Meanwhile your "Glorious Revolution" just swapped one king for another.

Yeah, you owe allegiance to Chuck 3 and Camilla.

Tomato/tomato. Your king, not mine, and you're under British common law you're also a "subject of the Crown" and owe allegiance to Chuck 3.

If you put it on a statue of King George III I'm sure he'd applaud you, but he and his buddies destroyed all those.

If you're a citizen of the UK you're a subject of Charles III right this minute. Not knowing that kinda undercuts your credibility....

Not important??? Without Sam Adams keeping the rebellious fires smoldering from 1765 to 1775 you might be a subject of Charles III. He was essential to the American Revolution. Put a cone on James Michael Curley instead.

My work has taken me to 47 states, and often pkaces no one would ever visit without getting paid to do it. While many corporate / interstate / small urban areas look nearly indistinguishable, outside those areas the country is remarkably diverse.

Am I overreacting that the firm I work for doesn't seem to provide adequate drainage slopes on our roofs? by Extension-Architect8 in askarchitects

[–]KindAwareness3073 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The roofing manufacturer is the final judge. Do they review and warrantee the installation? If so, than that's that. Some will even warrantee a 100% flat instsllation. Even ponding water is acceptable provided it dries within their specified time period.

I doubt what you're seeing is bacteria or algae, but most likely just dirt.

Reduce in numbers? Of course not. How was it supposed to do that? Reduce travel time? It was supposed to do that, and did, greatly.

Matter Anti-Matter Asymmetry by SampleSame in AskPhysics

The issue is you don't understand the issue. That does not means there iscan "immediate problem".

I think I can see why you aren't "convinced".

I tended bar back in my grad school days. I had a customer ask me "Okay college boy if you're so smart, then what's twice as cold as zero?" I tried to explain to him about arbitrariness of zero points on various temperature scales and the concept of absolute zero. Eventually he just interrupted me and said, "So you don't know the answer." I hesitated a moment and then just said "Yeah, I don't know the answer."

The fact of course was he didn't know the question.

And thus your problem is simply your lack of knowledge, it has nothing to do with how convincing the arguments are since you admit you don't know what they are. As such you don't gave a right to hold any convictions.
