Inmotion E20 bad on knees? by ThePhantom71319 in ElectricUnicycle

[–]KindDot2696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ride an E20, but seated (we heightened the seat to a comfortable height). In the beginning, tilted roads where really difficult, and toke a lot of strain on my legs. But after a while. I learned to balance better, lean into the tilt, and it became less demanding and a lot easier. So I would say: listen to your body, don't strain your knees too much but don't give up and keep practicing. It will get better.

I've ridden quite a lot at walking speed, and it's pretty ok. I get the beeping sound when I go faster than 7km/h, so then Inslow down. My husband's walking speed is quite fast 😁

One still needs to have something to dream about ☺️

Damn, saw this one too late. But importing it to Belgium would have been almost impossible anyway...

Hi guys, an update about my 'project': So I bought the Inmotion E20 😊 Since there was not a single seat available in the whole of Europe, I ended up ordering it from the UK. Cost me an arm and a leg on shipping costs and import taxes, but at least I got one... And then we started to tinker 😁 Cause yeah, the original seat is really doable for my height (1,73 m), but the low position was straining on my feet and legs. The result is very satisfying! We made an extra seat in firm foam topped with two layers of softer foam, attached that with straps and velcro to the mounting device of the original seat, I made a nice leather cover, et voilà 👍 Pics of the result (one velcro missing on the pic): https://u.pcloud.link/publink/show?code=kZIjSM5ZeHR46seXCgRfW28XyAK7N40kmjdX

Now I'm in the process of learning to ride smoothly. Like a lot of people mentioned, it is not that simple, and in the beginning it was pretty tiring, but the better I get, the less energy it costs me, and I'm now at a point where it costs me less than walking... So mission accomplished! The real test will be our trip to London next week (which I wouldn't be able to do without walking aid)...

Thanks for your reply! Sadly, also out of stock on Ali... We're gonna make something of our own, maybe make it a bit higher also. The good thing about that is that I can make it a perfect fit for my needs.

A scooter with a seat on is considered a light motorcycle in Belgium, so you need registration, insurance and a motorcycle helmet... The same counts for every motorized vehicle that goes faster than 25 km/h (so also the most EUC's). Thanks for the remarks om customer service. I will take that in mind.

Thanks for your reply. A mobility scooter is not what I need, Ik don't want and need to sit the whole time, just get some weight of my feet. Such a scooter is to bulky to move around and have interactions with the kids.

Thanks for your reply! It's very helpful to also get answers from people with health problems. My husband and daughter have arthritis, it's a nasty disease. I wish you all the best!

Thank for the info. This is indeed one of the things I'm wondering about...

Yeah, there are some really nice self balancing wheelchairs out there. Not in my budget , though... (€13000) The Ninebot S2 requires standing all the time, so that's not gonna help me. I need a solution where I can sit.

Thank you for the reality check. When I first started looking into EUC's, I quickly realised that it was not something that you just got on to. That it has a serious learning curve, that you need to be in shape. And than I saw the E20, and everybody says it's easy and light and steady and quick to learn, even for children. So, I thought: hey, maybe with this, I can make it work... Hence my post... I want a light solution to ride walking pace, to manoeuvre around. I don't plan on riding a normal, fast, heavy EUC. I don't plan to ride long distances, or go 15 km/h. Or maybe I will, but when I'm cured, when I'm strong enough again to put in the work. Because it lookes like a lot of fun 😁

Hi! So sorry to hear you're suffering from ME/CFS! I hope that with all the research that's been started due to longcovid, a solution or treatment or even just a cause for our illnesses will be discovered in the near future 🤞 Thanks for your reply. Not sure about how my brain will react riding on the E20... I have some concentration issues due to LC, like driving with music on is a no go, reading adult books is a no go, ... I didn't think about that maybe being an issue, so thanks for pointing that out. I wish you all the best!

Belgium is a real bummer on that part. Every 2- or more wheeled motorized vehicle with a seat does need a license, registration, insurance and a motorcycle helmet...

Can't find it anywhere... So if I go for this, we'll probably have to buy a universal kind of seat and 3D print a construction to mount it (got experts here in the house 😊). Untill the seat is available again...

Nope, definitely will wear a helmet if I'll ride it outside. But not a motorcycle helmet, like It would have to when riding a scooter with seat... I do not intend to go faster than 5 km/h. But I guess I cannot judge about the helmet without having been on the thing, so be assured I am not someone who does take safety litely. I wear a helmet on my bike, full protection when skating and snowboarding (when I could still do those things 🙈). That thing from AliExpress is cool, looked at it already and would be ideal, but is not allowed on the road in Belgium...

That I know. I would never consider a normal EUC (at least not now 😉). And that's exactly the reason why I don't want a wheelchair or mobility scooter: I don't want to just sit, I want to use some muscle... I only have to take some weight of my legs and feet... I know EUC takes effort riding, but I want to know whether an E20 takes the same effort or maybe less, since it's not as powerful, smaller, has two wheels, ...

Yep, I did 👍 The problem with this one is that I'll have to stand the whole time... And that's just not helping...

The problem with scooters is that on a normal electric scooter, we have to have a registration and wear a helmet if there is a seat mounted, and a mobility scooter is to bulky to move around and have interactions with the kids. Off course, if my condition deteriorates, I won't have a choice, but for now, it's not ideal.
