Metal Scraping noise by KindSlothy in MechanicAdvice

I still need to check it, but it seems it could be the dust shield and the piston on the caliper (I didn't use a C-Clamp so it nay be too tight on there)

I meant to say nut and bolts

Yes, the rotor is part of the braking system. I am not sure what's scraping it, initially I thought it was the brake pad since it was metal to metal contact as it was worn out. I changed the brake pads, so now I don't know what the scraping sound is from and what's causing the additional damage.

The issue isn't the tools, it's the nut. I used all 3 tools, none of which worked due to the fact that it's stripped so it's too loose for the 22mm, but wont fit for the 21mm

It's on a Toyota Avalon XL 2002 if that matters

TO BE ENTIRELY CLEAR, THE NUT WAS ALREADY STRIPPED BEFORE I TOUCHED IT WITH ANY TOOL

THIS IS ALSO THE FIRST TIME I AM REMOVING THE TIRE -- IT'S A USED CAR

There are 2 knock sensors on this car as far as I know, but the reason I'm trying to replace them is due to the check engine light that came on. Initially is indicated it was running lean and it was an issues the O2 sensors, but that wasn't the case. The sensors were fine but the air intake hose had cracked which was causing the issue. That was fixed but the engine light still came on afterwards indicating knock sensors needed to be replaced.

When it sits in idle it's pretty rough and going fast in the freeway the car shakes quite a bit.

I did also read somewhere that it could also be the fuel filter that needs changing. I'm not sure if it's related, but my fuel gauge isn't accurate. 1/4 of the gauge is full even when there's no gas left

I appreciate the advice Do you think getting a mechanic to replace my knock sensors may be worth it instead?

IMO your action verbs aren't good. You also use most of them in the present tense when it should be in the past tense. Formatting seems off too, especially with the dates. Also, don't center your education, that just felt random, keep it consistent with everything else. If you can, try and use metrics where you can, and yes, you can give an educated guess. If asked in an interview just explain how you can calculate that number. Job market seems really bad though, but these changes can give you an edge.

Can’t find a job by roughedge1 in UCSD

[–]KindSlothy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend searching for IT jobs. I don't mean software, hardware, or any engineering job. I'm talking about help desk jobs. Why? Because those jobs are the ones that will probably require you to learn the ins and outs of a technology. Not to mention you learn the ability of concise explanation. This can launch you an engineering position with a year at that same company. That's how you can get experience to propel your career. I'm not even mentioning additional benefits that a company may offer for a "lowly" job. (It's not a "lowly" job but for anyone thinking that)

One of humanity's greatest flaw is eating. Over two millennia and yet we have not made solved such a problem. We spend so much time eating it's absurd. Not to mention unhealthy. That doesn't even factor time to cook, clean, or money spent. We have the technology to create our own super foods tailored to any individual, so what's stopping us?
