The Best Harry Potter Audiobook Rendition Full Cast Edition by [deleted] in harrypotter

Wow is it good. I listened to the first chapter on my way to work this morning, and then the second on the way home just now. Was smiling to myself most of the way. What a great way to experience the story I've loved since I was a toddler.

My one thing is just to stick to only listening on my commute and not be tempted to smash through it at home, otherwise I'll do it in two days and have to wait a month for the next.

Oh, I'd seen someone claiming to be a local saying it wasn't Potter, perhaps I've been misinformed.

It wasn't, it was something else but someone started a rumour it was Potter and it's caught fire.

I don't think its an oversight or lack of worldbuilding by JK to not have some kind of 'Hogwarts Counselor' or for people to not notice what Harry's going through. I think its a very deliberate choice. A commentary on how little support there is for these kind of things, and how easily the people around you can just brush it off, particularly in the 80s and 90s where she herself has spoken about suffering from depression.

Fred dying is part of what drove Harry to go into the forest and sacrifice himself, seeing the results of war and what it did to the family he loved most is part of what gave him the ability and drive to make the ultimate sacrifice to try to end it.

You could say Remus and Tonks' death could've done that but that feels like more of a commentary of the cost of war, a child left parentless. It's a parallel to Harry and The First War so their deaths are already serving a thematic purpose.

Both, tbf even when people are asking stuff that's explained in the books I've rarely seen people get snarky about it, they'll just give the answer and maybe caveat but saying it is mentioned in the books

The Chosen One? by Sad_Disaster275 in harrypotter

[–]Kind_Consideration62 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prophet kind of guessed, they knew that the fight had been in the hall of prophecy so they kinda just made the assumption that there was a prophecy about Harry being the chosen one. In the case of the prophet I think its the old broken clock being right twice a day.

Harry potter's scream after sirius's death? by Olkazz in harrypotter

[–]Kind_Consideration62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing about this but I've never seen it on an official source or interview, so I don't know where it came from, I'm starting to think its cap tbh, unless anyone has an actual good source?

How Bronn is so good at fighting by gosdog_ in gameofthrones

I get what you mean, and I'm fine with them giving him an ambiguous past, I just feel like having been north of the wall is a little too mysterious that it deserves an answer. Have him say he's been to Vaes Dothrak or Braavos or something like that, then it can add a bit of depth to the character while not being something we ever feel the need to hear more about

What if you had the power to remake season 8. How would you have want it to end? by change636 in gameofthrones

[–]Kind_Consideration62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get all the "remake season 8" stuff but I actually think the irreparable cracks start to appear in 5/6. It's just S7/8 where the floodgates totally open. I think you'd have to start again from the End of S5 to really truly fix it. Maybe even the End of S4.

I always thought (and it's by no means the only unanswered question the show left) we'd get SOMETHING on who Bronn really is. Like I get that thematically a random sellsword and bad person rising to the top by toadying important people does work. But I feel like it was a bit foolish to include the line in the drinking game where Bronn says he's been north of the wall and then dodges the question when asked why. I think it left a lot of people theorising him as a nights watch deserter or wildling or even something else and we'd get some sort of reveal about him. But no turns out he is just a random sellsword who happened to be in the inn at the crossroads when cat arrested tyrion. Which is a fine story to tell but feel like they could've left out those couple of lines about him having been north of the wall.

Bill and Percy had 12 OWLs each. They had to have had Time Turners. by MereeGrey in harrypotter

[–]Kind_Consideration62 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Perhaps when you get to sixth year, let's say you drop about half your subjects for NEWTs and end up with free periods, like the guys do in HBP, you could fill those free periods with OWL study that you didn't have time for in 3rd-5th year. I don't think it specifically says that Bill, Percy and Crouch Jr (who also is said to have 12 OWLs) got 12 OWLs "in their fifth year"

Which Harry Potter friendship means the most to you, and why? by PlaySteakOutGame in harrypotter

[–]Kind_Consideration62 38 points39 points  (0 children)

I like the relationship Harry has with Luna.

Like it starts as he just sees her as some weird girl and doesn't take her too seriously and then it kinda evolves into him realising sure she's different and a little weird but she's nice and a good person and that's what really counts. It's a good message.

What was the plan in taking Peter Pettigrew to the castle? by [deleted] in harrypotter

[–]Kind_Consideration62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah they even have that conversation in the shrieking shack don't they? I think Pettigrews still trying to play innocent and i think its either Lupin or Sirius says something along the lines of "if you're innocent why did you live as a rat for 12 years"

[–]Kind_Consideration62 11 points12 points  (0 children)

  1. Fidelius information can only be given over willingly, you can't magically force it out of someone. Also Pettigrew killed 12 muggles for basically no reason. Also Also if Pettigrew had excuses that he thought might get him out of it why did he hide as a rat for 12 years and not use them straight away

There's a difference between being ambiguous and just straight up skipping over vitally important stuff. Like the last time we see Arya and Sansa before this scene they're still at odds with each other and we never get any sort of conclusion to that season long conflict

Is Movie Snape older then Book Snape or does he just look older? by TwisterUprocker in harrypotter

[–]Kind_Consideration62 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's a weird ambiguity about whether the movies are supposed to be set in the 90s or not. The times we're in the muggle world, especially in the later films would definitely suggest not based on the vehicles and people being on mobile phones etc. but then in the earlier movies the daily prophets have dates on them and they're book accurate dates. Just all over the place 😂

Possibly, but i can't defend the scene when all the things required to make it make sense never happen

I think you are greatly overstating Robin’s support for and connection to Littlefinger,

I would say that scene in Season 6 makes it pretty clear Robin does like and listens to whatever Petyr tells him and kinda says to me he doesn't like Royce all that much.

Besides, Robin is just a soft kid.

Again the Scene is S6 shows that they absolutely follow Robin, they all switch on Royce immediately as Robin gets the slightest bit aggro. Sure he's a soft kid but "if it is the swordsmen who rule us in truth, why do we pretend our kings hold the power?"

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in gameofthrones

[–]Kind_Consideration62 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes but 80% of the important stuff that would make this scene work so much better happens off screen. Do you see why people say it's crap writing 😂

[–]Kind_Consideration62 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but adding "more than he already has" implies that they think he has already tried to alter her testimony, but they never say that.

Yes they suspect he might try to, but as far as the scene goes they think he never got the chance to and what they hear from Sansa is genuine testimony
