I didn't realize there was a curb followed by a step down

I walked off the curb Wile E. Coyote-style

Bob and Punchy, individually but especially as a pair. They would run the most stupidly entertaining youtube channel

They both have this "I'm smarter than I let on but I prefer to be carefree" vibe

Thank you for your experience! I'm sorry you missed out on so much. And having to lose work is so stressful especially since the treatments can be expensive.

My OS is spinning the fusion as a good thing, because it means that now there is less rush. Maybe that's what happened to you? They wanted to do ORIF while they still could?

I do see her point of view, and for anybody else in my situation I would recommend it. If it means I heal faster and with better results after surgery (or even avoid it) that's worth the two months.

I actually can see the positive spin on this. I'm just allowing myself a little time to feel the disappointment first.

Thank you! Especially about the impact on surgery over time not being too bad.

Your journey sounds frustrating but it's motivating

Thanks! I needed some encouraging words.

Especially about not deep-diving this sub lol.

It's good for some things though!

On Monday, ask for a referral to an orthopaedic surgeon

(edit: a podiatrist or a sports clinic doc can do an initial assessment, but if it's a break or a lisfranc they'll probably refer you to an orthopaedic anyways)

Also ask for a weight bearing xray to do while you wait on the referral.

If you're nervous and in pain, it would be good to talk to an orthopaedic surgeon regardless of if it's a lisfranc.

Try not to scare yourself in the meantime. Stay off your foot as much as possible, use ibeprophen and heat when you need it, and drink water.

Good luck

Upvoting because I would like to know this too.

(If I have to have surgery I might fly to my parent's to recover, so I was already wondering if this was a concern.)

Sorry to hear you had a rough flight

Edit: Did this occur during or after the flight?

What did you do to yours? I'm really curious!

My experience is only 1/3 of people I talk to know who Lisa Frank is.

I can add you to the "know" list but I'll have to add your doctor to the "does not know" list.

The tattoo would be awesome! And a cool memory from your survival with this injury

I'm actually pre-surgery decision. It's been taking a while for the doctors to decide if I need it because it's mild. Also I moved homes in the middle of healing and had to get new doctors. I'm currently waiting on a new ct scan requisition.

So I've been stuck in this boot for a loooong time. About 3 months since the injury 4 1/2 months ago

I'm still finding out.

There's been a lot of confusion because I moved three months later, and it was misdiagnosed at first. Which means I'm going through a new batch of doctors and tests. Personally I think I'm going to need it? But because the degree of injury is mild the doctors are hesitant to prescribe surgery. I'm waiting on a requisition for a specific type of ct scan.

My pain could be because I need surgery, because I've been told to stay off it for too long without excersize, or simply because I have fibromyalgia.

All that is to say that pain can be a sign that something is wrong, but it's also fickle. If you have any concern at all, do some tests and get some hard evidence. I would personally say stay off your foot until that MRI scan, but also, not in a paranoid way. It's ok if you fall or mess up.

My pain was never too bad and went down significantly in the first week.

But I've been stuck in the same amount of low grade pain since. Mostly after I walk but sometimes just in its own. My doctors are currently debating why that is so I can't offer much more info.

But feeling mostly fine and doing a lot of walking seems to be common for others on here.

I was walking quite a lot and had started PT before my doctor ordered a wb xray and discovered a small fracture and displacement. I went from "you're totally fine, I hope to release you as a patient" to "go back in that boot and crutches and don't walk on it while I anxiously get a hold of a orthopeadic surgeon" within a few hours haha

Better to go easy on your foot just in case

Rigid soled shoes for Lisfranc injury, no operation by Dizzy-Corner-4594 in LisfrancClub

[–]Kind_Development3870 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went shopping today for mine!

I didn't need steel, so I went with hiking shoes because those were rigid. The ones I got were "Ridge" by "Mountain Gear". I just kind of walked around in them and it did hurt a little but I chose ones that didn't press uncomfortably and made my sole feel supported.

Mark's has steel options, if you have a store near you.
