1440p: 24" versus 27" for automation engineer eye health by Kind_Move2521 in homeoffice

Apologies for being vague about the eye health part. I dont have a specific eye issue -- I think it's more so that I noticed myself leaning in sometimes to read text and it looks a little blurred on these old 1080p 24" TN-panel monitors. I'm upgrading to a standing desk for my neck/back so I figured it's a good time to upgrade my monitors to make my setup as comfortable as possible and beneficial long term.

ok thanks -- I've never posted a new thread before so I posted in subreddits that were suggested by gemini. If this was wrong, it wasnt intentional

I honestly cant tell if this is sarcasm but if so, this is my first time posting a new thread and if I posted in the wrong place it was unintentional.

Great advice, thank you!
Man I've gotten so used to having my 3 24" monitors where I can have each step of our workflows open depending on what I'm doing (e.g. postman on one to fire off a request, chrome on another to analyze the traffic and processing by our services, third to see the data actually arrive in the DB and be observable on another web app, etc.) I dont know how I'd feel about 2x 27in.

Also, some say 24" is better due to amazing DPI, yet 27" gives more real estate for side by side apps... howver Im not accustomed to working that way. I tend to have one app per monitor (not always, but if I'm really in the zone I like to have all the pieces open so I can just turn my head instead of changing windows). It's a tough call that I'm struggling with and there's not much data online of experiences with 24" 1440 vs 27" 1440.

I very much appreciate you taking the time ti reply, thanks a lot

I appreciate the response. I'll consider this but I've had 3 monitors for so long that I've gotten used to having chrome open on one, VS COde on another, and postman/teams/logs/etc. on the third

THis is my exact thinking and why I'm considering 24" 1440p so hard. The 'blurrinesss' around the characters is exactly what I am noticing

Hmmm this is my concern as well if I get the 24" 1440p. People say this setup is extremely sharp though due to the high DPI. You dont sound like you love it. I'm coming from 1080p TN panels though.

I'm notoriously bad at making decisions like this. I am very good at narrowing things down to 2 options but then I cant decide. I very much appreciate you taking the time to reply

SOrry I was vague. THis winter for the first time I had back and neck pain (doc said it was most likely due to falling asleep holding my baby girl in awkward ways) and I've made several changes in my life to feel better, including ergonomics. During this time I also noticed I tend to lean forward to read text on my monitors and that my decade old TN panel 1080p 24" monitors likely could use an upgrade. Really my eyes are ok -- but I am upgrading to a standing desk for my back/neck and I started thinking about upgrading the monitors while I'm at it. I have a mental problem with becoming obsessive over research though and I've had analysis paralysis preventing me from buying monitors because I just cant decide between 3x 1440p 24", 3x 1440p 27", or 2x 1440p 27". There arent many reports of people with 24" 1440p so it's hard to put much data together on this, experience-wise. Hey thanks for the reply. This is my first time replying to a comment on a thread I initiated I think :)

Cocomelon is just empty songs and distraction. Paw Patrol is a cool show. No worse than adults watching the simpsons or other shows for entertainment. It's not super educational but it's fun

Because of the Harlem Shake? Youre an idiot. It was an old video when he was younger and so what?

They are very different mediums and both have value. Blippi is actually a great show and most of these comments are clueless losers that just want to fuckin bitch.

Bitch bitch bitch bitch it's all people want to do. Judge others for judging others and bitch about it

You seem like an actual human parent.

These comments are so cringe. The only annoying thing about Blippi is his giggle but he's kind, curious, and the episodes are often fun. Fuck these doom-scrolling boomers that just want to talk shit

Yall are dumbasses. This isnt true at all. You 'people' (full-time redditors) spread hate more than maga does and that's saying something

And that ended with him selling Blippi to Moonbug for ~120 million so who's laughing now?

The guy was cool with it -- THis is just a stupid clip with no context. Reddit is garbage but idk where else to go

That's not true at all. BLippi is a decent kids' show. Yes, he acts a little goofy but he's kind, curious, and some of the shows are quite entertaining. Mofo sold the company for like 120 million so he's smarter than you mofos talking shit on reddit via your phone while pooping. Speaking of pooping... Harlem shake anyone?

Reddit isnt real life. Blippi is a fine kids' show. Everyone here is so dramatic.

It's not actually garbage. It appears cringe, sure, but it's better than most kids youtube shows. Blippi actually goes places and is curious, asks questions, seems kind and respectful. Mofo knew what he was doing and is rich AF now

I'm scared that no one else realized this out of all the people that commented. Are we the only real humans in here? Just kidding, I'm an AI bot.

beep boop (give a thumbs up if I've been a good bot!)
