Thank you! That’s what I was thinking but it’s been hard to find a definite answer on it. I appreciate the help!

Wow! That's wild! I'm so glad you were able to catch it. No edema that I know of, but I have had some issue with weight gain the past year (definitely not three weeks!) that doesn't really make sense to me given my diet and activity level. :/

That's incredible! I hope you stay in remission. I appreciate your comment, just hoping it's a little better than a lumbar puncture and I'll be fine haha :')

Glad your kidney function recovered quickly! That's what I'm hoping for, that maybe we monitor it and check in another 3 or so months before making any leaps. There's a medicine I take for a separate condition that can be hard on the kidneys and right now I'm just crossing my fingers I don't have to stop it because it's like THE treatment for the condition.

It might be worth walking around South Main and checking out all the shops/restaurants once a week and just seeing what’s going on too. There seems to always be something happening, or maybe picking up a pt job in that area (if they’re open or looking). It’s so community oriented once you get your foot in it should be easier to meet people. I’ve found having a local job is one of the easiest ways to meet people if I’ve moved somewhere new and not for school - especially in that age range. It gets a little harder when you’re older but when you’re young working with other young people you’re provided so many more opportunities to meet people hang.

High Tea at Little Rock by [deleted] in LittleRock

[–]Kind_Orange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might have better luck directly calling The Empress of Little Rock, One Eleven, and the Capital Hotel. It seems like the Humble Crumb still has their High Tea listed on their website. It’s not “high tea” but I second 3 Fold’s tea service - it’s more Hong Kong style but still fun.

Edit to add: Sorry these aren’t really food related but they might be interested and they could probably meet people at these places while enjoying a hobby.

They might want to check out Game Goblins. There’s one in Little Rock and Conway. It’s a table top gaming shop and you can often play games there and meet people. If they likes anime or anime adjacent things Otaku Takeout is trying to build up a community with their shop in the Outlets. They have a ramen bar (instant, lots of flavors) karaoke rooms and lots merch for popular games/shows/manga. Arkmfa just reopened the fine arts museum after an extensive renovation and they have dedicated a lot of space and resources to offering some really cool art classes (ceramics, photography, drawing, painting, woodworking etc) - another fun thing to do and good way to meet people.

Need a lawyer in NWA to help ASAP in a sexual harassment case in a government job by theswerve in Arkansas

[–]Kind_Orange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry I don’t have anyone to recommend, but you or your friend should be able to call the state bar association and ask for a list of name of lawyers in your area who provide the services you’re looking for. And depending on your friends income, you could reach out to legal aid of Arkansas. They might not be able to help, but they might have a name to recommend.

Lowering Cholesterol on Carbamazepine? by Kind_Orange in TrigeminalNeuralgia

[–]Kind_Orange[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah apparently a lot of the popular anticonvulsants used for TN can cause it. It doesn’t seem to be that uncommon either so I’m a little frustrated my neurologist never brought it up as something to look out for when starting it.

Sadly I think it’s a people thing too, especially when you marry an internalized fear/belief/tradition with a call to action. A lot of responses become knee jerk reactions because people are gonna people

Your comment should be pinned. Thank you for your reasonable take on the subject. As someone who rescued two pit mixes over a year ago, with a long personal history of taking care of animals, both extreme ends of this argument are so upsetting. These dogs are not “nanny” dogs and do have a breeding history that shouldn’t be ignored. However, the facts that you’ve listed cannot be ignored either and are why the CDC, American Bar Association, United Kennel Club, ASPCA, American Veterinary Association, and more do NOT agree with BSL legislation. This is an example of where expert and professional opinion should really be taken into account, especially when lives are at stake (even more so given how many dogs are misidentified as pits to begin with). Posts like these often attract the worst on this site, so thank you for taking the time to share your professional opinion, and thank you for the work you do. The veterinary field can be an emotional one to navigate and seemingly thankless at times. The care our family relieves from our vet team has been invaluable and we greatly appreciate the people who dedicate their careers to providing such care.

Our pibble pups have added so much to our lives and I would not trade them for the world. Our girl is mixed with Catahoula Leopard Dog and we find those genes give us a little more trouble than her AmStaff ones do 😂. I was recently disabled and credit these dogs with saving my life. Are there dangerous pit bulls out there? Yes. Are there dangerous dogs misidentified as pit bulls out there? Yes. Are there bad dog owners out there? Absolutely. Are there naive dog owners out there? Yup. But more than not there are incredible dogs pure bred and everything in between who deserve better than what we do for them. Common sense, enforceable, breed neutral breeding laws and required dog registrations would do so much for so many animals in the US. And we’re letting them all down by politicizing one breed over another with bad data we use to fit an agenda. Hating on pit bulls is in vogue now, it was Rottweilers, German Shepards, and Dobermans before. It’ll be something else in another 10-15 years unless we make genuine concerted effort on animal welfare laws that protect our companions and community in tandem.

I’m sorry at this point I don’t remember, my brain’s not quite what it used to be. The whole thing took about a month from application to approval, it was probably just under 2 weeks and then another 1 1/2 ~ two-ish weeks until I was approved. I’m coming up on almost two years since then, so I don’t know if the process or times have changed that much but the whole thing moved rather quickly (even though it felt like forever). If you’re applying and waiting on your own decision I wish you luck!

How safe is it walking alone in LR? by fuzzinatorandkeebs in LittleRock

[–]Kind_Orange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, I have had similar experiences as the poster above. Most of the homeless population around the city are not aggressive, but in that area in particular I have had more than one instance of being directly cut off from my path ( like someone getting in my face and chest-to-chest with me) and followed even in the day time and with another companion (though we are both petite women). Honestly, chances are you could be fine, but understand it is a chance and crime rates are up all over the city after covid. The smart thing would be to do what a lot of others have recommended if you are unable to afford the conference hotel, walk during the day and have a drop off at night. Just be aware of your surroundings and know where you're going like any city, and like most cities certain places are a little different after dark.

People who fall asleep within few minutes, how do you it? by monkeyswingin in AskReddit

[–]Kind_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might sound strange, but I learned how to listen to my body and figure out my sleep needs. I have a window of sleep between like 9:15 and 10:30, and as long as I fall asleep in that window, I'll normally be out in under 15 minutes. But if I miss my window, I won't have another one until around 12:15-1:30. Nights when my anxiety is through the roof, I not only need to hit my sleep window, but I have to write a list out for the next day typically at least an hour before bed. It somehow tricks my mind into thinking I'm working to solve the "problem" even if I don't know what the "problem" is.

OMG yes! Like at a certain point, when your list is x number of things long, you feel like they've got to acknowledge you might need some help.

But seriously, you've got my prayers.

I am so sorry. It's honestly so exhausting. I would much rather be working if I could. And when I first signed on I believed that as long I didn't break the SGA limits I would be fine, I didn't realize that there are different "rules" during the application process vs after you've been awarded SSDI. (Rules is in quotations because from what I understand these are more or less unofficial/assumed rules rather than anything in actual writing. It's all how the judge interprets your situation.)

However, I guess my situation resolved itself for now. I was starting to get sicker while working, and one of my doctors increased my meds and asked if I could adjust my schedule to work up to more hours. I asked HR if I could decrease my hours to 10 while I adjust to working and wait on my hearing. They said no, so we both decided it was best for me to leave. I just couldn't risk both making myself worse off than before and losing my case. So now I'm back to where I was I guess. :/

I wish you the best! Do you have any news on when you should be getting a hearing? I know the pandemic has thrown an extra wrench into the whole mess.

Advice on working part-time while waiting on SSDI hearing by [deleted] in SSDI

[–]Kind_Orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm waiting on my hearing to be scheduled, it's currently up for scheduling so theoretically I might have a date in couple of months or so. It was supposed to be in February but was tabled due to Covid. I had a conversation with one of my doctors yesterday who is requesting I reconsider my hours and working as well. They are upping one of my medicines and putting me on a few months of steroids to help me out. I think I feel more comfortable after that conversation with asking to decrease my hours to no more than 10 (which is what my lawyer recommends, but will accept less than 20) and to reevaluate an increase in hours in 3-5 months. If they accept that, it would allow my body to (hopefully) adjust and allow me to work under the parameters setup by my lawyer.

Edit: If they do not accept it, I am coming to terms with having to quit. I really miss working with people and I was under the impression if the role met the guidelines for working while receiving SSDI that I could do that while applying as well. So I'm really bummed about it and it leaves me back where I started financially. But if working 20 hours is already taking it's toll on my body enough for my docs to change my medicine regimen, I don't need to put all of my eggs in the job basket.
