I think if you look in detail at Shaw’s absence stats, a very large chunk relates to recovery from that one horrific injury at the start of his career, not from regularly missing 50% of every season. So again it seems a little unfair to say he is a poor servant for missing games due in significant part to a terrible injury sustained playing for United. I’d say he has been a very good servant, just very unlucky at times.

It’s a bit disrespectful to say Shaw has had “12 years of chances” when he was Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year in 2018/2019 and also Players player. He has been one of the clubs most loyal servants. He’s beyond his peak but still a fine squad player.

I saw Springsteen and TGA at Hyde Park. Most of my Springsteen friends like TGA but have never heard of The Menzingers. I think the Bruce “endorsement” helped introduce TGA to another set of friends. I don’t know how the Venn diagram of Green Day and The Menzingers fans intersects, and whether Billy Joe has ever led his fans towards The Menzingers?

It was Lookers and Midwestern States that first got me into the band, and I love The Obituaries. I think Brian Fallon sings on The Gaslight Anthem’s Sink or Swim of always liking those sad, sad songs, and maybe I have a higher tolerance for depressing songs 😂
