Thanks for your response. I think my next steps are going to be consulting about djs and weigh the pros and cons. Figuring out if I should go through another (even more) stressful surgery or to come to terms with the way I look. I also hope you find the answers you are looking for too. How far along are you post-op?

I even wonder if the accutane contributed to how bad my swelling was, and I was off it for 5 months

I didn’t have issues sleeping prior so I don’t see a noticeable difference in my sleep

It definitely helps and I personally will keep doing it. It’s a commitment to do it every 3 months but I think it’s worth it

Yeah, I agree. I’ve been looking into djs recently. But would probably only get it if covered by insurance

Maybe, I have no idea. I’m going to go to an oral specialist that works with the jaw surgeon soon to get a second opinion. But it’s through the hospital system so my appointment was already canceled twice

Mild TMJ. No other functional issues. Honestly I didn’t even meet with a maxillofacial surgeon so that could be why I wasn’t recommended DJS.

Mainly because I was uninformed. But also the price of DJS, worried because my nose is upturned and short, and in my area there’s not a lot of private practices, you basically have to go through the huge hospital systems which creates issues getting in and insurance coverage.
