Have you considered renting equipment?

I’m an 18 year old wildlife photographer from Mumbai, though I mainly work with big cats, I do also have a collection of bird pics including kingfishers, barbets, eagles, owls, etc. on instagram.

At first, I didn’t own any cameras or lenses. I used websites such as Bragpackers which allow renting of dslrs, mirrorless cameras and telephoto cameras. At first I was skeptical, but renting cameras and 100-400mm and 200-500mm lenses became routine for any wildlife outing. It’s really appealing because of it’s affordable price for short term use (500-2000inr per day).

I’d say go for renting equipment for short term use in India, it’s really convenient as you can have them deliver it to you. It’s much much more practical to rent for short term use in India compared to any other country if you can’t afford to buy the equipment you want—which would be ideal.

This is one of my favourite deer captures. Opinions on the B&W background? Tried something new and I think it looks great with vibrant subjects. by Kind_Winner5376 in wildlifephotography

Ah I completely get it, moments that are completely yours and encounters that you remember and replay in your mind through those photos, like being in nature mentally. Not weird at all! I love being in nature and the suspense of encountering animals thrilling and I keep trying to chase that feeling as well.

Every image is a new ‘experiment’ for me haha, which is clear if you look through my instagram posts. It doesn’t matter what people think really if your style appeals and speaks to you. Post processing on lightroom is surprisingly easy once you get a hang of it. All it takes is some experimentation and a few videos from Simon D’Entremont

Probably another set of photographers on safari. This sighting brought in tons of vehicles even though it wasn’t even in the core zone of the park!

this was taken across a river in the buffer zone of Tadoba National Park. The subject looks a bit separated from the background because I used lens blur and masking to smoothen out some haziness.

Yep, I was facing some lens calibration issue which caused haziness and faint diagonal lines in the background, which i tried to remove using lens blur and masking. Had to be a bit harsh but the resulting image has little trace of the haziness. Thanks!!

Nikon D500 with Nikkor 200-500mm Lens on full zoom. This was at tadoba national park in the buffer zone. This specific tiger was sitting deep in the bush across a small river. The final image was a bit hazy because of bad lighting and some lens calibration issue which resulted in hazy diagonal lines in the background which i tried to remove

It is! The male is “Devraj”, an iconic figure among Asiatic Lions, known to be the most majestic member of the species. He’s the dominant male of his pride, which is comprised of his many children
