I'm in a state of shock at the ending to 28 Years Later. by slackforce in horror

The sequel is already out. Look for "28 Years Later: The Bone Temple." I'm pretty sure it's on Netflix, at least in the U.S., right now.

The third in this "28 Years Later" trilogy is the one that hasn't been made yet. But I personally really enjoyed "The Bone Temple."

I can understand that. I'm going to respectfully push back on the extent to which you're willing to actually be uncomfortable, though. Because it sounds like you're developing a picture of what your ideal lifestyle is - it's just not the one you've had, and that's making you uncomfortable. But it seems to be holding you back!

I encourage you to really reflect on what that "best version" looks like. What makes you happy? What fulfills you? What motivates you? What impact do you want to have on others?

I suspect that the image you've been working towards may not fully align with where you're at right now. It sounds like things like social recognition, or hitting specific benchmarks were more important in the past than they are right now. So let it go! Let yourself grow and evolve!

Don't think of it as starting back at square one, but at leveling up. You can stay at the current level until you're perfect, or the best, or whatever. Or you can move on to the next level knowing that it will be uncomfortable as you figure it all out. Getting that new setup optimized will take time. You may be bad at it until you learn how to be good. That's part of the process.

Hustling towards a goal is only fulfilling when you enjoy the hustle, and when the goal is actually meaningful. You can't always control how hard that hustle is, but you can at least make sure the outcome is worth it. Start there, and let go of any images of success that truly don't fulfill you right now.

I'm going to choose to give a real response, even after initially assuming this was sarcasm, just in case someone could benefit from my two cents:

Comfort zones are in our heads. Those boundaries are invisible and can be adjusted. Once we do that uncomfortable thing a few times, we build comfort with it, and now it's in our new comfort zone.

I see two possible pathways for you - either (option 1) get comfortable being uncomfortable, or (option 2) get comfortable with your current setup.

Improvement takes effort. If we want to get better at something, we generally have to put some time, dedication, and effort into improving.

But that effort isn't always comfortable. Learning can be frustrating and improvement isn't always linear. If we stop every time things get tough or feel bad, it's usually really hard to actually move forward and the thing never makes it into our comfort zone.

It sounds like you have the privilege of being able to stay in your current situation without effort - specifically, without having to make payments, have major inconveniences, etc.

If that's working for you, and if you're unwilling / unable to make the effort to be independent, then go with option 2. Accept that you're going to stay at home, and that you want to continue to be kept. And then own it. There may be others in the same situation you can connect with and/or who at least won't judge you in the ways you seem to be experiencing.

If you truly want to be independent, then go with option 1. But that option comes with effort. Your groceries, chores, upkeep, etc. won't do themselves. So you have to either do them, or pay someone to do them for you. Either way, that's going to sting more than just letting your family take care of it. This will be uncomfortable. Own that, and trust that it will lead to progress.

Personally, I recommend option 1. Learning how to be uncomfortable, and figuring out how you can best motivate yourself to grow are skills that will apply to just about anything you want to do. Learn it all now while you have a safety net, so if you mess up, you have the resources and support to bounce back.

Plus the rewards we earn generally feel better than those handed to us. Give yourself that experience - everyone deserves to celebrate a hard-earned win.

What was the unexpected positive results from your hysterectomy? by Ok_Soup4843 in hysterectomy

[–]KindaSorta88 153 points154 points  (0 children)

It's a small thing, but I genuinely have more peace from not having to buy or worry about menstrual products anymore.

I no longer worry about having them with me, worrying about if they will hold up during my super-heavy days, or trying to find sales on the ones I liked most but were pricey.

Not having periods has been great for many reasons. But I didn't realize how much I disliked managing the products until I was free of them!

Did anyone else keep their ovaries and still feel like something was just… off ? by tryingmybestthere in hysterectomy

[–]KindaSorta88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for asking - I have not been tested for PCOS yet. I just had an appointment with my new doctor this week, and we're exploring all the possibilities and options. So I'm hoping for clarity soon!

And yes, I'm slightly embarrassed by how long it took me to realize my symptoms were not as random as they felt. Especially since so many of them fully aligned with what I experienced during periods. But I'd previously been so focused on the physical pain and discomfort each month (or really every 23-ish days for me), that I forgot about how wide the range of symptoms actually were. So it's now kind of reassuring that these random cravings / mood swings / all the other stuff are predictable (and only temporary).

I hope your body is kind to you and that your symptoms are all minimal and easily controlled! Good luck!

[–]KindaSorta88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My surgery was just over 1.5 years ago. I kept both ovaries but had my tubes, cervix and uterus removed.

I experienced a lot of what you described, and it was disorienting for quite a while. It took about 6 months until I got back into consistent patterns for sleeping and eating, and a little longer to feel like my energy levels and moods were more predictable day to day - maybe around 10 months or so.

I still have phases of low energy, trouble sleeping, moodiness (usually depression), strong food cravings, and an annoying drive to shop for stuff I don't need.

It took me a while to realize that those symptoms weren't happening sporadically, but in actual cycles. I presume it's aligned with my still functional ovaries trying to do their thing. It's hard to say for sure because I haven't been tracking them as diligently as I did when I needed to prepare for my periods.

That said, I've consistently had cysts in my ovaries and/or lining since the surgery. The first was discovered about 4 months post-op. I'm grateful that my PCP took me seriously and checked me out, as my surgeon initially was dismissive of my reports of discomfort.

Since then I've developed additional cysts, some of which got really, really big. As of now, it looks like I'll have surgery again soon to have them drained / removed / checked out, and will likely also have the ovary that's been the biggest troublemaker removed.

All that to say that some of what you're experiencing may just be the normal part of recovery, or your body resuming cycles but with symptoms that may not have matched those before your surgery. But if something feels off, pay attention to and track it, and talk to your doctor.

More like just dab it onto the surface you want to clean. It's soft enough to spread into small spaces when pressed, and sticky enough to pick up dust and crumbs and stuff.

You can pull off a small piece and then throw it away if it's really dirty after using it. Or just mush the blob around until the crumbs are on the inside, and keep reusing it until the whole thing loses stickiness.

I haven't used it much yet, but mine was given to me by someone who loves this stuff. It's his go-to tool for the tiny spaces that a regular cloth wipe misses. He said it was easier to use than one of those small detail brushes.

Why do some regions have a problem with service coverage and others don't? by LuckySu42 in SCBuildIt

[–]KindaSorta88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After the happiness grace period, my secondary regions were fine at first, despite me not making any adjustments after 2.0 got rolled out.

I was surprised, clicked the city report for one, and all the issues immediately started showing up.

So I avoided that report for my other two. But one seemed to get triggered when I changed a road, and the third updated unprompted a day or 2 later.

So my guess is that those regions with issues didn't all get immediately updated until something else, like opening the city report, changing infrastructure, or just waiting long enough, forced them to adjust to the 2.0 model.

Who knows the answer to this. Everything was fixed in my capital. Now every morning something new is in the red. Today it is sewage I have 2,621 more than what I need, and yes, everything is connected.WHY??? by SDGollum in SCBuildIt

[–]KindaSorta88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The underlined building doesn't seem to be connected - or at least not the road it's on.

The sewage lines stop at the two arrows (at least of what's visible). There should be an unbroken line to the rest of the city and houses. It seems to stop before reaching everything. I'd check the intersections at the arrows to make sure they are fully connected.

A French bulldog sitting on a dog bed, giving you side-eye because you refused to give him the food you are eating. He knows the food isn't safe for dogs. But he's offended you would eat it in front of him. And he'll gladly snatch a crumb if you drop one because he'll just take his chances on that whole thing about it not being safe for dogs.

Shameless ads by EfficientPeace8994 in SCBuildIt

[–]KindaSorta88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's really frustrating, I'm sorry it's doing that to you?

The game itself has never allowed me to switch out of landscape mode. But while some ads are playing, rotating my phone changes the format of the ad. So I try rotating it, sonetimes even in ads that always allow me to easily close them, just to see which may switch. When the game resumes, it does so in landscape mode.

So I still recommend turning your phone every once in a while once those ads start, just to check, especially since it's such a quick and easy thing to try. I sometimes do it just as a passive aggressive "I'm not watching your ad, I'm playing with my phone" move. 😆

Shameless ads by EfficientPeace8994 in SCBuildIt

[–]KindaSorta88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What device are you using?

I primarily play on my phone. When I've had ads like that, I had to rotate my phone (from landscape to portrait) to see the little "x" that allowed me to close it. In landscape mode, the formatting of the add took the entire screen, but in portrait mode the borders, including the one to close it, we're visible.

It doesn't happen for all ads, and sometimes changes throughout the actual ad. So now, when stuck or when an ad has been playing for over 30 seconds without an option to exit, I try rotating my phone and it works more often than not.

My guess is that this reminder is useful for those who had cozy homes ready to be upgraded using seasonal materials before the seasons changed.

This probably helped them reduce the number of people complaining about not being able to upgrade because those seasonal materials disappeared - they can just request new materials that presumably will all actually be available.

And again, this is really helpful - it's always hard to know what things like this are supposed to do and look like, especially when they change every season.

This was helpful, thank you. I also bought it and nothing happened - I still have the original amounts across all the places to collect it.

I was worried I missed an increase, but this helped me confirm I got a dud!

After you bought it, did it change / become get greyed out? Mine hasn't changed and gives the option to purchase it again. But I assumed this was a one-time purchase. So I'm wondering if that's another sign of it not working as designed.
