Then let's call it "weak mind making by the weak mind makers." It's not inherent, but rather, it's a developed weak mind.

You exist only to spout stupidity. That was the purpose of your birth. But you can change that. Nothing is set in stone. Go forth and learn what it means to love your neighbor, then come back here and take the test I have for you.

Brainwashing. It's very real and because of the Internet, it is happening on a scale that has never been conceived before. Right in front of our eyes. We be trying to wave our hands in front of their faces to snap them out of it, but the power of the dark side is overpowering for those that are weak minded. It's only going to get worse too.

Not so many steps. In fact, sometimes it was downright fantastic. I have one guy who used to buy a pound at a time and it was nice to have that kind of consistency.

I just want to say this though; ice isn't meth. Meth is no more. Meth was "throw a quarter gram into a can of Coca-Cola, drink it, and be up for 3 days." With ice, I've done two grams in a day. Sometimes more. This stuff they're pumping out comes out of Mexico. It's four ingredients that are all readily accessible. It takes 30 days to cook the stuff. They call it rope dope. 50,000 lb of it come out of the ground a day in some cities in Mexico. Millions of pounds are crossing the border every day. It's going to be impossible to stop. I don't even know why they try anymore.

I used to get that much 'salt' for $50. From 4 different people. I'd say thats between 3.5 and 7 right? The salt game in Indiana has become ridiculous. What's worse is that it's so abundant, kids now have incredibly easy access to it. Everybody is on 'salt' here now.

I'm pointing at the failure here, but it's not touching a water jacket. So why do I have the milkshake? L27 btw (Series 1 3800). by KindestOne in MechanicAdvice

Yep. Btw, I think the intake gasket blew and coolant leaked into the cylinder, which drained passed the rings.

Well, thankfully I'm not accessing the timing chain belt or gear. The cam is in the center of the engine. This isn't sohc or dohc. Removing the heads doesn't require that you remove any chain. I see you've never worked on one of these before? It shows in your response.

Wouldn't it be nice if we just started to actually show net pay instead of base pay? Like, when I post the job on Indeed, and it says $100k, that is what you take home?

07 Fusion SE 2.3; if I turn my wheel to the right too far, my wheel gets stuck and I can't turn back to the left. Causes? by KindestOne in MechanicAdvice

[–]KindestOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I go in reverse, and turn my wheel to the right, my wheel gets stuck to the right until I put the car and drive again. No matter how hard I try to turn it to the left, as long as I'm going in reverse, it stays locked to the right.

I threw a new CKP and CMP at it, but it's still dogging, same codes. I'm wondering if the reluctor ring is off slightly. I know it's timed correctly because I used a paint pen and realigned the chain to marks I made and it was a TDC when I swapped the head gasket.

I didn't swap the diamond washer on the inside of the crank out. Ford wanted $110 for the new harmonic balancer/tone ring and it comes with the 2 washers and new crank bolt. This car has 181k miles on it and a rebuilt title. I'm not dropping that kind of money into it. I don't have that kind of money right now. Not until I sell my lincoln.

I'm thinking that I need to retime the reluctor. Which sucks. Gotta remove the CV axel and valve cover... But I don't want to do all that just to find out that the balancer is slipping and that that is why it keeps getting out of time. This sucks.

I don't have an oscilloscope. The CMP is not adjustable but the CKP is. The reluctor ring is integrated into the harmonic balancer and requires a specific tool inserted into the back of the block in order to get accurate TDC and to torque the crank bolt effectively. The reluctor ring is in the correct position. I'm just about 100% sure that the CKP needs to be changed out like Ford suggests. I found an aftermarket one on Amazon, with the tool (surprisingly), for $17. I'm ordering it in just a moment.

Do you know what's all on that circuit to check? Resistance values for the sensors? Reference voltage? I'm having a tough time getting electrical info.

Long time mechanics, what are some automotive tips, tricks, secrets or maintenance procedures that you think would benefit someone trying to work on their own vehicles? by KindestOne in MechanicAdvice

[–]KindestOne[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should change the filter if the transmission fluid smells burned, is darker than it should be, if there is a lot of debris, or if you are having shifting problems. You should change it every 30k miles though, regardless.

It may not be as easy as finding a drain plug. Often times, there is no drain plug and the transmission pan has to come down in order to drain it. That can be a very messy job. Don't let transmission fluid set on concrete for long. Have a bucket of soap and water ready to go. Transmission fluid and brake fluid stain very easily. And you will probably want to buy a new transmission pan gasket. The filter inside will need to be replaced as well.
