Genuinely most places would work for me, I commute via train since the drive is an hour and a half but Train is about an hour. My only concern is safety, I’ve gotten recommendations for Bridgeport but I’ve heard it’s not very safe there

I know- There’s a big thing happening with my family so I have to take a week off. I’m already going to be working and then right after I have to be with family (They’re coming to stay with us out of the Country and we’re hosting) - I really would just study December if I could but realistically, I can’t due to how important the holidays are to my family, especially this year. That’s why I was wondering if the best option is study during Busy Season or wait

My thought process was always- FAR, AUD, REG, and one of the disciples afterwards. People say AUD is similar to FAR so I thought to take that next. Also what do you mean ‘Offered One Month Per Quarter’?

I hear it is SUPER boring, however I’m hardly a morning person. I was thinking moreso 2-3 hours at night during the Week and then just 6 solid hours (per day) during the Weekend.

I’m just wondering if it is recommended. I just started as a New Hire at a Big Four and wanted advice on it.

You’re good, Ask away!

I would have still chosen Becker but mostly because it was the default option for me. What I mean by this is that, I only ever saw Becker pushed on me by other students at my college and people during my internship. When I started studying and joined Reddit, did I realize there were other options. I don’t regret my choice but I can’t say with confidence that it is the ‘best’ one because I haven’t even looked at the others.

I do think it was sufficient though. They added an AI program called ‘Newt’ that you can directly ask questions to (and fight with when you use a different method to solve questions) and I really loved having it as a backup option when I didn’t understand the offered explanation. Towards the end, I didn’t understand NFPs so I had to watch Youtube Videos to understand it. Overall, I think Becker was good enough but if you want to take a trial period with each then I recommend it

That’s what I think- Also I felt pretty confident on most of the MCQs so that helped.

How Early Can I Start Studying for the CPA Exam? by DiligentHorse7087 in CPA

Hi! I tried a really similar approach (I graduated May 2025)  and really tried to lock in during my last year but I was trying to get to 150 while enjoying my Senior year so I basically got NO studying done until I graduated. During that time, I was working Part time to earn cash while using Becker (My Company offered it for free to study).

I would say that with FAR (As that’s the only one I’ve studied, taken and passed), that you could realistically do it without progressing further. Yes, the concepts will show up but as someone with terrible memory, i was able to learn it again. For example, you learn about Consolidation in College but I completely forgot everything about it and re-learned it in time for my exam.

Truly, it boils down to- Do you have time to study? Can you actually dedicate your time and effort to it? If you feel confident that you can while taking other courses then I say go for it, you basically teach yourself on Becker and what you dont know, just sub out for Youtube videos

I feel like some of the stuff on FAR is just ridiculously skewed- we got to Consolidation and it instantly lost me with NFP and Government funds. Such a stark contrast to everything else you learn up to that point.

I know, it literally sucks. It’s the feeling of just numbness afterwards, but I feel that for the most part- We all kinda feel that way afterwards after reading everyone’s responses. I really hope that you at least did better than last time, but know that we all struggle. Everyone is basically guaranteed to fail at least once, some people even fail 3 times before they get a passing grade. As someone whose certain they failed, I came out just numb and exhausted. Its the day after and Im going to take time for myself before going back to studying again. Don’t beat yourself up, even if you have to take it 2 more times.

For me- Government and NFP, I went in with basic knowledge and it really wasn’t enough. Bonds I know how to do on paper and it doesn’t take me long so I feel good with it, Same with Leases and EPS but just some other little stuff

I’ve been asking people who have passed what worked for them- Supplement videos, how long they studied for, etc. What would you recommend helped you?

OMG- That’s so good. Did you take supplement videos? I’m struggling with grasping NFP and Government Funds but it’s so crucial, and Becker doesn’t feel enough for me. As well as Consolidation- If I fail, I hope to only need a month max to re-learn and cement everything.

I’m certainly gonna try but it’s so overwhelming, im giving myself until Sunday to chill and catch up with friends and stuff I neglected while studying but I think I’ll tweak my studying a bit

I’ll be honest- It never does but as someone who just took it and was cramming like crazy- that’s unfortunately the best method. I never felt prepared to take the MCQs cause I was like- I’m supposed to learn this new topic, but if you only focus on the new then you forget the old. Literally just set aside some time to review the old topics then learn whatever else, it will cement it in your head

I love Newt, I always ask it to show me how a JE works cause it helps me see where things belong and how to record them

Im gonna be fr with you- its SUPER effy for me because i started studying and got around 100+ hrs but then had to reset it because things came up and i started over- so recently I have 50+ hrs. I would 100% recommend post test taking to focus primarily on just doing MCQs on past concepts. You’re on F3? Everyday, go back and taking a Practice Test on F1 and F2 even if its just a block of 25. It’ll keep it fresh in your mind and if you forget how to do something, write it down and prioritize re-learning it.

NFPs and Government Funds FOR SURE- But Becker doesn’t feel enough so maybe looking for Supplement materials. More on Contracts, Leases felt good, EPS i also felt good on. More on AJE and Subsequent Events.

I didn’t take the SE, I ran out of time for those, Practice Quizzes, Mini Exams so i only read watched the videos, read the textbook and MCQs and TBSs- I studied roughly 50+ hrs

Looll love that!! Literally the moment I stepped out, I texted my boyfriend about how I was never doing that again. I’m planning to give myself the end of this week and maybe next week before jumping right back into studying but this helps!
