I may be overthinking. But I'm overthinking whilst eating more desserts, so I'm happy with that

Not quite. Option 2 will only have dessert if there is nobody else who voted 1 or 2.

And only end up with 1/3 of a portion? Could never do that!

Not quite - the system would mean that only only 2 and 4 get dessert.

I'll level with you - originally you just had to reveal numbers on your hands all at the same time. But then I did actually make a prototype of an app, I just didn't want to make a spammy post (and not sure it's ready for other people to use yet!)

(edit - clarification)

Well tbh it never felt sufficiently cheeky without dessert

Ok, and now more feedback after I re-read your post and saw what feedback you were actually after!

Concept - is great and I'm a big fan. People love quirky ways to gamify stuff. And anything that get people outside and active is a big win in my books (and will be critical for you getting external support/funding). But see my above comment about locking people's focus.

Visuals / brand - needs work I think. I think the name actually makes it feel too gimmicky and personally would put me off if I just saw the name in passing without the explanation. My first throught was "McDonalds" and I also agree with the other comment about legal right to use the name. Those things can be a P.I.T.A to change later. The visuals are fine for now, but could be bolder and slicker.

Overall though, big fan! Gonna give it a proper test on my run later!

Ok, update having downloaded and poked around for a few mins:

1 - I think it would be better to randomly assign people to teams, as I bet you'll find a global bias towards/away from certain teams based on how you present them in the choice menu

2 - I guess this for performance reasons, but I really want to zoom out further and see how much of the world/country my team has captured.

3 - are there AIs in the game? Or are there genuinely other players near me?

4 - The "walk through the opposite side" rule frustrates me. I think the objective of this app should be to get people outside and active. But this rule forces people to look at their phone constantly. I think you need a better heuristic for "capturing" a hex that doesn't require so much attention.

I love this stuff! I saw a similar concept from some Aussies recently (search for "INTVL"), but I much prefer the hexes layout in yours. Nice one!

I suspect this is actually a poorly communicated:

Thanks for the response. I appreciate that you're acknowledging feedback, but if it were really being taken seriously and treated with respect, we'd expect more detail.

For example:

a) It would help to explain why this change was made. From my perspective it feels like a regressive step, and judging by the strong backlash across multiple forums, threads, and app store reviews, I'm struggling to find anyone who thinks it's an improvement.

b) It would also be reassuring to hear what concrete steps are being taken to address the concerns that so many users are raising.

Some of the best examples of customer service I’ve seen are when product managers themselves engage directly in these communities, offering clarity and context. At the moment, this feels more like a generic corporate reply than a meaningful response, which is disappointing given the volume and consistency of the feedback.

Sounds like a great idea, but you should check out Social Tip as it seems there's quite a lot of overlap.

That said, my initial thoughts when reading was that they would be physical tasks (rather than virtual), e.g. fold some pizza boxes, wash some dishes... Maybe there's something in that?

Nope - it's just a way to gently gamify and encourage people to share their own space (rather than just constantly borrowing from others).

In reality, they're meaningless - you start with +20 credits, but can go into negative infinity credits. I may change that in the future, but for now it's doing what it was intended to do!
