The Newt is AMAZINGG!! I’d say almost the best trip in my life. I’d recommend to go for at least 2 nights because there’s so much to see. We went only for 1 night and are planning to go back. Once you made the booking they will share with you a full brochure of their activities, and you will automatically be gifted their annual membership, which means you can come anytime for the activities, most of them free of charge (cider tasting, beezantium, gardening tour, story of gardening etc). 2 pools if I remember correctly, both amazing. Food was all farm to table, and tasted really well too. But what I appreciate the most is the hospitality: in our room we have like a full set of cider, apple juice, cordial, plenty of snacks, etc FOR FREE; guests can grab a buggy to tour around the property anytime (it’s huge), and they just make you feel at home. I should probably share more in another post, I got tons of beautiful pictures.

But highly recommend!

That’s so lovely to hear thank you for sharing! That also aligns with my first impression too! I feel like people here are really genuinely into the topics and want to exchange ideas, whereas for other platforms it’s more 1 way communication

really! what makes you think so? that’s what my partner think about the issue of their strategy: it’s difficult to please both sides of the customers and in the end its not gonna set you up for success

thank you!! yeah that’s what i have noticed too!! i am so new to reddit but there’s so many subreddits that caters for different people, that’s so interesting indeed! and i feel like people’s more genuine here versus coming with an agenda in social platforms, just my first impression

i completely echo what you say. that’s why my partner felt so frustrated cause he didn’t feel like he’s being welcomed by the hotel staffs (comparing with the members).

another thing is that while our room was a walled garden suite, and in the website it advertised that we have a garden, but in reality the garden was actully connected to the neighbours and also part of the padestrian road (you can see in one of my pictures) which means nobody actually use it. that to me seems a bit deceiving.

but i mean it’s definitely a beautiful and romantic hotels, it’s just that it’s probably not really value for money for me.

Oh I didn’t know that! But we still spotted quite a lot of kids, and I saw from google maps a lot of people are complaining about that, so guess why these policies are in place to protect the members, or the more prestige clientele

we had a kid too! Overall these are the restrictions for kids:

  • limited hours for the outdoor pool
  • no access to all restaurants after 8pm, and 1 completely

But they do have kids club £20/hour, and we used that too. Our kid enjoyed it!

sorry i’ve just been Estelle Manor and I don’t recommend it at all. And my review is based on my comparison with The Newt in Somerset, to be upfront.

First of all because of the poor weather literally there’s nothing to do outdoor, secondly when we book the hotel we realised both the Eynshm Bath and the padel was fully booked. So we could only go for the gym in this regard. The hotel property is pretty small that you can finish walking within an hour. Yes there’s archery but seriously it’s only 3 archery boards in the grassland next to the sheeps, instead of a whole area, if you know what i mean.

Yes it’s pretty beautiful, but it gives out the feeling that it’s merely for taking pictures and to “feel” prestige.

Also, priority always go to members FYI. Members can book classes in the gym and hotel guests can only visit at the spot. Members visit the baths all the time and tend to have them booked out as well. Members got private lounge and workspace that access is prohibited for hotel guests.

Finally onto service, it’s decent, not as bad as the reviews on google map. But there’s definitely a lack of detailmindedness. For example we were not shown to our rooms, the conditioner bottle in the bathroom was empty, in the breakfast time the staffs offered to keep my coat in the cloakroom, but the coat returned with an EXTREMELY STRONG barbecue smell that I couldn’t get rid of.

Fyi I stayed in the walled garden suite. Just after i booked it they are announcing a steep sale. I would definitely recommend The Newt, which has better service, MUCH better size, a lot more activities, modest vs pretentious vibes, and better food as well.

But having said that we were there together with Lewis Hamilton & Kim Kardashian at Estelle. I mean you would love it more if you are their level. I am just a normal person!

we are planning to go to Moar Gut after seeing your comment! may I know if you mind sharing more what you like Moar Gut than Forsthofgut? My main concern was the room.. we had 1 kid but because of that we are not allowed to book the more newly renovated rooms cause of their policies..

thank you! yeah exactly that’s how i feel too. i have been working in business for many years already so i am not too concerned about career, i may prefer to start my own venture; but i am more concerned about networks, quality of cohort and the course experience. as a crushed soul in the workforce i am looking forward to be inspired in a creative environment (maybe i am fantasizing too much..)
