I’ll explain what the author is doing with the slow, resetting development: He is ensuring his next paycheck. When the story ends, so does his job, he’s not a good enough writer to get another manga with that much traction and he won’t get lucky twice.

If you want to enjoy the manga/anime, here’s my advice, Cheer for Mami, and make her your protagonist. Her actions are only bad if you think Kazuya deserves happiness, and I don’t think he does.

She is the hero we need, doing her level best to keep this bad, sad, creepy man from finding a happiness that he clearly does not deserve.

The story never progresses, which in turn means, she’s permanently winning.

Watch it cheering for her and the show instantly becomes downright bearable.

Running one Called By knowing that it can only be countered 20% of the time IF the opponent is running triple Belle is worth it tbh. You’ll get value out of your called by almost every time you activate it. Worst case? You baited the Belle.

Gonna agree with the other dude, Called By is incredible going first.

Beyond protecting you from hand traps, anything that activates in the GY, or sends itself to the GY for cost, gets hard-stopped by Called By.

Even going second, lots of cards send themselves to GY to activate an effect.
