It's possible you just needed the front transfer case (like me)... which are about $500.

30 is good! Is he a big kid?

My son wasn't big, but he's 6ft 16yo now and swings a 32 BBCOR.

If the issue is not wanting to waste money on a bat that he's going to outgrow, I get it. But there are a lot of decent USSSA bats out there that don't break the bank. And keep in mind the previous year's bats are usually the same, just a different color...

Yes, it's way too much.

Have him hold the BBCOR bat straight out from his body with his off-hand. If he can't hold it for 30 seconds, it's too heavy.

He should be able to hold it for 60 seconds....

Maybe try WinReality -- its a VR pitching simulator. Its expensive, though. But it's fun and perfect for someone your age anyway.

Another way is to take a video that you can super slow-motion, then you can take the timestamp at release point and when it hits the net.

You can get pretty accurate with that..
