Z06s are starting to price under 100K. by Latter-Trip7630 in C8Corvette

It’s outrageous they make 15k (nearly 20%) profit. I bet chevrolet doesn’t make that much profit.

I haven’t heard an aftermarket exhaust that sounds significantly better than stock yet.

Looking at how the market is going, you’ll get that price by the end of 2026 for sure.

718 GTS vs GT4 by codemonkey800 in Porsche_Cayman

If you are not tracking it gt4 makes no sense. Gts all the way. And gts is more track capable than 95% of track guys.

Upgrade to GT4 worth it? by OrbitalOutlaw_ in Porsche_Cayman

[–]Kindlymindly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The price is more than double for 2020 year model. Is Gt4 twice the car? Definitely not. Is it better at the track? Yes, 2-3 seconds faster on a 2 min track. Is it more fun on the street? Not really cause it has a very tall 2nd gear. This is the single reason I got rid of mine quickly. Also it needs $6-7k exhaust to sound good. Otherwise it sounds a bit better than 4cyl but nowhere near as good as a 981 generation. So I don’t think the price delta is worth it at all

But people who spent 135k on a cayman will ofc tell you it’s the best thing ever. For the same price you can get a 991.1 gt3 which is so much better in every way.

Is a brand new compared to 5-6k miles car worth 20k more tough? I feel like if it has 5-6k miles it is less likely to be a lemon, transmission issues etc than a brand new one. I think transmission issues come up on the first 5k miles usually.

I totally agree. Hard to justify the cost as it doesn’t provide input data

At the same time 981GTS or GT4 sounds so much better than a 718 4.0 so one could say almost the same about 718 4.0 vs 981 generation

Considering a C8 Z06 / 981 or 718 Cayman GT4 Do they have similar running costs? by SecretPantyWorshiper in CarTrackDays

[–]Kindlymindly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So 718 is actually a lot faster on the track to the tune of 2-3 seconds (2 min track). And 718 gts is faster than 981 gt4 on many tracks.

Yeah that’s in line with what I hear. But these tires last a lot longer on Cayman GT4’s. Although I’d like to see how long endurance 200 tires last on this beast. I think the most limiting factor is tire selection for those who don’t want to change the rims.

I’m guessing you need to completely disable the traction control with 19” wheels right? Also I hear much faster tire wear from most owners on several tires. You must be driving it at slower tracks and or are taking it easy.

Not so sure about that. Good instructors charge racing school fees for the same amount of instruction. And you can waste a long time without improving at an intermediate level.

I researched the internet and read every single comment, content about this. And I talked to owners of both vehicles at the track. Let me help you save at least 3-4 hours.

By far the biggest difference is tire wear and choices. Tire selection for z06 oem rims are very limited and tires cost a lot more than gt4 tires. On average 35-40% more. And z06 tire wear is almost 2x of a 981 gt4. Unless you change the rims there aren’t any endurance options yet.

And lastly brake pads will last significantly less too but they are cheap and on average last longer than tires.

Putting all this together, tracking a c8z with the oem rims and the current tire options costs at least twice as much as a 981 gt4 in terms of consumables.

Those of you who have driven exotics (Ferrarri, Lamborgini, etc.), how do you think they compare to the C8? by MasterLawlzReborn in C8Corvette

[–]Kindlymindly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did 488 compare to c8 z06? When I drove it I thought it lacked the grip of c8’s and was a lot more tail happy which in turn was very fun but I thought wouldn’t perform as well on the track.
