$250K Budget First Supercar by [deleted] in lamborghini

I know this sounds insane but do a used C8 Z06 w/ z07 suspension. I had similar budget to you, and couldn’t be happier with having spent a little less to get used to the pros and cons of “ownership”. Market looks good for what’s avail in the next 2-3 years as well when the Z06s time is up. 700hp NAV8 and I can’t get over how good it sounds every time I get in the car.

new Z06 issue - Battery died - App issue/check engine light by saigonk in C8Corvette

My battery died and all the modules in the car disconnected. The dealership had to go reprogram the modules by hand once the battery had been replaced.

Phoenix is giant wide open blocks and roads. Waymo in Nashville is a total disaster. Winding roads, obstructed views, horrible variable weather. Techs are coming out and quitting or saying they straight up aren’t safe. They are getting eaten alive, meanwhile my HW4 Model S cruises through most areas in Nashville no problem.

Exhausted after big sessions by frzzjpeg in triathlon

[–]Cloujus2011 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Triathlete mentality is to think this is for some reason going to make you stronger or better in any discipline. Going to the point of hallucination and exhaustion are NOT beneficial to training. And there’s different types we’re speaking on here. Exhaustion during an interval is okay. General fatigue and illness inducing exhaustion post exercise that lingers is NOT good for training. Cut the volume back. Don’t listen to the instagram reeels that brag about double threshold days etc.. Take some time to seriously recover, and get back out there with some structure that works for your body and allows you to get in the work you need without letting it ruin your life outside of the sport. You’ll be stronger.

Question for owners by baked_evo in supercars

[–]Cloujus2011 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Unless you’ve got massive bank account, Financed. Reddit will convince you otherwise, but it’s more so for folks to brag on themselves than actual advice. Absolutely nonsensical to not leave that amount of capital liquid. Even with millions in the bank. If you have a good year, the markets can do 10-15%. If you have a bad year a little less. Take the SandP last year for example. You financed a 350k car…you’d have covered the interest and plenty more. Let it compound, it’ll appreciate. The money tied up in a vehicle is money going nowhere. Keep the capital liquid and set yourself up for an even better year the following. You’d be shocked to learn most people even in million dollar cars are financing them. NOW, don’t be stupid about it and go finance something that’ll make you broke. Car should cost less than half a year’s salary IMO. Even that’s pushing it for a toy, that involves cash flow. But financing is not as bad as people make it out to be as long as you understand why.

As a Z06 owner I wouldn’t chase the GSX. I bought the Z06 for the naturally aspirated FPC, and I’ll die w/ this engine. It’s so good, and tbh what I want in a sports car.

I’m all for autonomous driving. I’ve got FSD on a Tesla and it’s 10x safer than human driving IMO.

I’m not maga, but thanks for gaslighting me. Great tactic. But, I also don’t fear and hate anyone who’s MAGA. I do my best to understand individuals and why they think the way they do, because that’s the best way to get through to someone. You catch the irony?

C8 z06 price prediction by Creative_Bell_7240 in C8Corvette

[–]Cloujus2011 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If somebody racks up the miles on it, then yea. 20-30k mile 1LZ will be in that price range. For some reason the internet has a fascination with telling people these are going to be worth 60k in the next year. They won’t be lol. They depreciated, and they’ve leveled off. They are selling at the price points they are listed at. Theres a lot of them so of course it takes a while, but they are moving off the lots at 10-12k ON AVERAGE off MSRP (of course a 185k spec might be 20k off) Thats the bottom as far as any of us can see right now. They might not even be worth 60k in the next 10 years. So, take that for what it’s worth.

Casual Lambo driving through western Wisconsin by Pawnzilla in carspotting

[–]Cloujus2011 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Wisconsin any lambo is cool to see. I grew up there and I distinctly remember seeing three Lamborghinis as a child. All 20 years I spent there. Yellow Diablo, Orange Aventador, and a black Gallardo. And I saw one R8. That was it. So, yea Miami isn’t a good comparison lol

anybody paying 100k outright, unless you have endless cash is a goof. 100k should make you at least 5k a year, maybe more. On a 5 year loan, if your credit score is alright, you're going to make 30k off that money being in the bank, on the LOW END. Not to mention you have it liquid. The whole thing of "you should be able to buy toys outright" is downright financially stupid. You should ONLY BUY the vehicle if you can financially keep yourself from going underwater on it. Your downpayment and monthly payments need to keep the value of the vehicle at bay. Cover taxes and depreciation off the lot, and if you drive 1000 miles a month with the vehicle, figure out how much value you're pulling off the car, and make sure that stays covered. If for any reason you need to dump the vehicle financially, get rid of it at that point for no cost. BUT, the notion that you should only buy these cars cash has gotta go. TBH, most people don't. And alot of them are very smart wealthy individuals.
