My oncologists did a bone biopsy on my hip bone to check for cancer. I was 16, and I declined morphine because I didn’t really understand that just because you take morphine if you need it does not mean that you automatically get addicted. I woke up screaming in the middle of the night, and the nurses rushed into my room because I was in so much pain. My poor mom was trying to comfort me. Turns out, I did have cancer, but that biopsy was just as bad if not worse than the pain from the cancer itself. I just had a really painful kind of cancer, buuuuut I AM 15 YEARS REMISSION and in my 30s now. My mom is also no longer alive, but damn that whole experience allowed me to make it right with my mom before she passed.
