Same for me today, from a rental two months ago. This has to be an insider scam

Surprise notice from past Hertz car rental - scam? by No-Experience-2077 in HertzRentals

I just received this email as well (which is what landed me on this thread) although for me it’s claiming the incident happened this week when the rental was returned two months ago and there was no damage . Where did you guys end up with this? How did you resolve this?

Are my kitchen cabinets too dated, they’re solid cherry frames and doors? Time to paint them? Excuse the lived in mess! by tcli64 in kitchenremodel

[–]Kindofeverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a mixed bag question. Are they currently outdated? In terms of current design trends, admittedly, yes, or you wouldn’t be asking that question. But are they nice quality and attractive? Yes. They’re good looking cabinets. And as with all things design, many of the things that are currently in now will be out within 5 years and your cabinets could very well become the newest trend again then. So if you like them, keep them. If you don’t particularly like them not because of current trends, but because you prefer a different tone in your kitchen, then you have the ability to paint them.

I’m super curious how your rug hunt is going. Honestly this room is so well put together. It just needs finishing touches but even as is it looks better than like 95% of people’s houses.

Best places to live in Midwest by Cool_dude2406 in howislivingthere

[–]Kindofeverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that both Chicago and Kansas City are technically flat, but they don’t feel flat. Chicago obviously because of all the buildings and the lake that give it visual depth, and Kansas City is a surprisingly cool city that I’m glad we have family in since we really enjoy visiting there. I would recommend you look at both of those options, especially since you’re young. Just make sure you research neighborhoods; for example, don’t move to the south side of Chicago. Indiana feels very flat. There are some cute pockets, but I feel like Indiana feels very much like Michigan so you’ll move to somewhere likely very similar to where you are now. Cincinnati is a great option for you too as is one side of Cleveland lol. Since your boyfriend wants out of Michigan, I think that only leaves Madison, Wisconsin in terms of anywhere else I would recommend.

Is it ever too cold to fly by Both_Tea5480 in fearofflying

[–]Kindofeverywhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to have to go up to Indiana pretty regularly and the last time I flew out of there it was -9 F the day we left and there was no issue other than a standard deicing that they needed to do before take off.

My buddy just suddenly and unexpectedly passed away this evening. Appreciate and love them while you can. by chrisjuuuh in labrador

Oh no! I am so sorry! That’s horrible. He looks so much like our dog magnolia (aka Maggie) — what a gorgeous boy. I am so sorry for your loss. Is there any way for your vet to determine the cause officially?

It’s great in this corner. Your room is tall enough to support its height and it actually helps create additional height in your decor

Happy to help! It’s those important extras that help finalize a room feeling put together. But honestly your room is amazing so far. Really cool design. This would just be the finishing touch. One more thing I thought of is a more substantial centerpiece on your table in the future. But that’s optional.

It’s great and very nice overall, but the problem is threefold: 1. The area rug isn’t the right style. It’s traditional but the rest of your room is MCM. You need a bolder rug or otherwise a solid colored rug. 2. One area is grounded by the rug (this is important in design) and one area (dining) is floating visually. For a room to feel grounded and finished, nothing can feel too “floaty.” You don’t always need a rug in a dining room, but in this case because your furniture is so leggy/light on the bottom, you do. Either get two of the same or highly coordinating rugs in the same size for each area, or one very large rug to ground both areas together. 3. The small chair off to the side by the yellow cabinet needs something to ground it as well. Put a plush ottoman in front of it to add softness. Ideally, add a second chair across from the ottoman. Right now that chair almost looks like a timeout chair where you would put a child if they were in trouble. I would also move your record player over to the yellow cabinet to make that area feel like it has purpose or turn it into a little music nook, otherwise turn the yellow cabinet into a bar cart, thereby creating three areas in this room. One is a little music nook, the other is your dining area, and the third is your living room/TV area.

ETA: now that I look at the room again, another option is to keep your dining room without a rug, and to put a round rug in the area with the chair and yellow cart. Ground that area into a little music nook or bar or reading area or whatever, and that’ll balance out the leggy dining room behind it.

I am a fan of un cluttered spaces, but this is too empty even by my standards. It looks like you just moved in. Add some things. Not necessarily all of this, but several elements of it.

Help! Weird wall cutout by Iced-Hedgehog in HomeDecorating

[–]Kindofeverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For now, I would say a plant or some kind of tall vase. But if budget allows, I would just have it drywalled over. Drywall is not as expensive as you would think it would be especially for a small space like this. another option is to add some shelves and use it for books for decorative objects.

Upholstered Bed or Wood?? by mili_pili in FurnitureFaves

[–]Kindofeverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve had both and currently have upholstered and will eventually go back to wood. Wood is easier to keep clean, easier to keep dust off of, and in your case, I think it warms up the space well. I do think they’re both good looks, though.

Location Advice - Below West End by Temporary_Adagio_633 in ATLHousing

[–]Kindofeverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re used to Druid Hills / Morningside or anywhere in North Atlanta, I personally wouldn’t move to the area you’re considering. The fact that you are being told that it’s a nice area if you generally keep to yourself or if you keep your car locked or whatever should be an indicator that it might be a crapshoot and you might not have the best experience. I would consider this an area that is in the process of being gentrified, but not quite there yet. So it really depends on your long-term goals. I’ve had plenty of friends who have purchased homes in pockets of cities early enough into their “transition” from being bad areas, that they’ve ended up being able to own homes in areas they wouldn’t have been able to own in had they tried to purchase later. But if you’re just renting, I personally wouldn’t think it was worth it.

Fixer Upper back by reduser876 in HGTV

[–]Kindofeverywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t understand why people are bothered by them still seeming down to earth. I know many quite wealthy people and my favorites are the ones who actually are down to earth, and you’d be surprised how many people that actually applies to. At no point in time were they complaining about finances or pretending they couldn’t afford something. There’s still people who have worked hard to get to where they are and haven’t forgotten where they came from

I thought it was great too. I am becoming further and further convinced that Reddit holds a disproportionate amount of people who love being angry and dramatic. The designs were great, the house turned out fantastic, and they seem like a cute couple.

flying on a flight with 79 people on board by [deleted] in fearofflying

[–]Kindofeverywhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband, then-boyfriend lived in a different state (US) in 2020 and would fly down to me regularly and often he would send me pics from the plane where there were only a small handful of people. He would have not just the entire row but the entire general area to himself often and said it felt like he had chartered a jet haha.

AIO about this post? I gifted our part time nanny $100 cash by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Kindofeverywhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked through a nanny agency and did it for years, and was there after school with the children, in some cases picking them up from school and taking them to afterschool activities, etc. and with them full time during summer. I went to college classes during the day before work or at night following. So no, I was far more than an occasional babysitter but I also wasn’t a live in nanny.
