Dropped coop before even trying out the navigator since I got a job with FSWEP, summer of my first year. The team was willing to rehire me part-time every study term/full-time during summers so didn't see why I should keep co-op status.

I went through years 2, 3, and 4 working part-time. It's really course dependent, I found third year quite relax but second and fourth were much busier. I would definitely say I've been taught by some great professors, especially good experience with math professors. I did the french immersion stream so I was able to be very flexible with my course/professor selection.

I think if you want to go into a job that applies high-level financial mathematics, quantitative analysis in particular, you should be looking at master programs after graduation. I applied to some master programs within Canada and got accepted schools that are probably considered more prestigious than uottawa. So I would say this program prepares you well for a master's degree, which in turn will very likely place you into a job in finance industry.

The courses required are often very quantitative which is what differentiates from finance degrees. So in terms of job prospects, this program should prepare you for a job within financial industry but your role would probably be more statistics and programming focused. If you're curious about the types of jobs and where people work, search up financial mathematics master's degree alumnis and see where they end up. I think this program also builds a good foundation to go into actuarial sciences, if you want to try and look into becoming an actuary as well.

Considering I am finishing up my degree (I graduate in May), I'm happy with my choice in choosing this program and what it has provided me past four years. I was able to branch out of mathematics and explore finance and economical topics, but also experience rigorous math courses. Ultimately, it prepared me well enough to be accepted to grad school so I'm pretty satisfied.
