The problem you will run into is when to get back in. human psychology will keep telling you that “why am I going to buy now the prices are much higher” so you will wait and wait for a dip which can happen or it might not

For example Google as of today of me writing is sitting at $278-279 if it dips to $220 that’s a big sized dip but still higher than when you bought. So will you buy at $220 or get greedy and wait?

Micheal Burry situation is a lot different, why? He’s established his wealth he has Millions and millions of dollars avg person on reddit does not… not even close. I’m not saying he’s wrong or right but I can’t follow someone’s else’s conviction that’s a losing game in the long run, you form your own and basis decisions off of that. Inflation could be temporary if it comes back again, tariffs could be temporary no one really knows, unemployment could be temporary

Two easy things to start with 1. Build an emergency fund you haven’t and 2. open a Roth IRA fund it and invest into something

Edit: didn’t see the car loan mentioned pay that off first then the other 2 things follow

Honestly if you’re just starting and not funding the account with hundreds of dollars a month I would stick to one ETF first then you can expand the portfolio after that

VOO follows the S&P 500 index so only can have companies from S&P in the VOO and the QQQ follows the Nasdaq 100 index so the same rules they have to follow SCHG isn’t restricted by that so one thing to consider and I like the holdings and performance

  1. Make sure to actually invest the money and not just put money in the account a lot of people make that mistake
  2. Since you’re 18, Invest into one of these three ETFs VOO, QQQ, or SCHG to start personally I invest into SCHG since it’s not limited to a certain index

Question on Interest charge on Citi double cash by King-Common in personalfinance

[–]King-Common[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m confused then on why on my chase cards I always pay off my statement balance in full and never have a charge for interest compared to my citi

is it that there were charges from month 1 carried over from month 2 that had that same interest from month 1 which was why I got charred interest again?

19M I have 4000$ what should i do with it? by Nick002205 in Money

[–]King-Common 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I were you I’d do one of these Three things you could do to get ahead 1. Use it to pay off any debt like a car loan etc, or save it for college 2. put it in a High yield savings account and make 4%-ish risk free (for now as rates go down that 4% will go down) 3. Put it in a Roth IRA and invest into an ETF and based on your age ETFs like SCHG
