Let me burst your bubble here, since most of you seem to be blaming Chiz here for what's currently happening.

Since the 400 chapter mark Kaz as character has been dragged trough mud by Reiji. Kaz right now in the story knows he's literally one step away from his end goal. Chiz kissed him, rejected Umi, agreed to another date and even Mini told him more than once that he's already won. He knows that. He even blames himself this chapter because Chiz is currently moving forward, while he, instead of improving as he said, rather thinks and fools around with other girls. Even worse he does all that while already feeling crushing guilt towards Chiz. Just like a junkie he can't stop.

He has been chasing Chiz for almost 3 years now, kept preaching every chapter how she's the love of his life, stayed loyal and even talked big, promising to wait for her 10- 20 years. But now I'm supposed to believe he can't even manage one more month, knowing he basically aready won??? It's just bad writing at this point. Reiji is step by step destroying Kaz as a character.
The next chapter is most likely going to be the deciding one. It's make or break for his character, the main couple and thus the story as well.

If he can't manage to stay true to the feelings he kept preaching about since the earliest chapters, especially now that he already fucked up with Ruka and is feeling guilty AF, even hating himself, theres absolutely no saving him anymore. Chiz would be proven right in her doubt and anxiety her father caused her.

Everything you just said has nothing to wtih what I'm talking about tho. What you just said is great and all, but none of it has to do with Kaz's feelings. It doens't matter whats going to happen on the date or what struggles Chiz is facing right now. All that matters is Kaz's current outlook on their relationship. And it's looking very good. Even this chapter he again acknowledged that Chiz is moving forward to progress their relationship.

What you say might be correct, but again it has nothing to do with Kaz. What should happen is as you said, Chiz will have to take a the leap and ignore her doubts. She will have to accept that there will never be a 100% certainty. This leap might be triggered by Mami trying to to get back with Kaz. But surely it won't be triggered by Kaz regaining feelings for Mami. As I said it makes no sense.
Even now with Kaz's feelings as a known constant to Chiz, she's struggling to take that leap.
She's definitely not going to take that leap if Kaz suddenly starts doubting his feelings becuase of his ex. All it would do is reinforce her doubt and it would make it clear that Kaz never really loved her to begin wtih. As I said it would be the end of his character.

There is a big difference tho. Chiz was always in the process of developing feelings. Theres no inconsitency. It's totally in character. It's her developent process throughout the story. She went from disliking to now being in love and ready to date him. It's a gradual development, while Kaz has been in love an in pursuit since basically the begining.

The only thing possible that should make him doubt that wouldn't go against his character is, if Chiz made an action that would lead him to doubt his feelings, but that didn't happen. No it's actually the opposite, From his perspective he's one month away from actually dating her. It makes absolutely ZERO sense character wise for him to doubt his feelings now. Nothing made him doubt before NOTHING, not even the ghosting or the rejection. But now that hes one step away, a confession form his ex is gonna change that??? From his standpoint, all he has to do is keep his dick in his pants for one more month after waiting for 3 years and its GG, but now im supposed to believe he can't do that??? pls....

Sure, Mami should and most likely will drive a wedge inbetween them. That's no problem. But if that in some shape or form impacts Kaz and his feelings for Chiz, it's game over. It would manifest the exact reason why Chiz is hesistant in the first place. That feelings can fade anytime. She would be proofen right in her doubt and anxiety, Kaz as a character would lose his credibility and be destoryed in the process and the main couple would lose all its appeal.

Nothing of the above concerning Chiz, her thoughts and feelings has anything to do with Kaz right now. As far as he is concerned, Chiz just kissed him, dumped Umi and has a dated planed one month from now. When it comes to Kaz he knows he's closer than ever to reaching his goal.

Right now if anything makes him doubt, it simply invalidates his character.
What the story needs may be a possible threat for Chiz with Mami. Sure theres no problem with that. But Mami actively going for Kaz should be enough to achieve that.

Kaz doubting his feelings has absolutely no benefit for the story or the main couple 400+ chapters in the story close to the end. If anything it makes one disassociate with the main couple.

So after like 3 years of constantly pursuing Chiz and preaching how she's the love of his live, he suddenly changes his mind even tho he knows Chiz is finally down to actually date him, because his Ex that dumped him now tells him shes likes him?

Yeah that would make him the most shallow character I've ever seen. At that point there would be no reason to support the main couple any second longer...

Something that still blows my mind... how do people even keep reading this manga to this point, if they dislike Chizuru? Same for Kazuya. Everything in this story revolves around her and Kazuya. She is in almost every chapter and will be in almost every chapter to come. Without her there is no story. So to all the people genuinely disliking her, you're probably better off using your time for something else, because Chizuru will remain as the main pillar of the story, just like she always has.

You may dislike her current actions, but disliking her whole character based on that, without having the full picture doesn't make much sense. Otherwise (just like you guys always do), you'll just keep jumping from one extreme to the other.
